No Thursday or Monday games this week - just Sunday. We are pretty sure that the Chiefs won't play most of their starters, and the Steelers have already confirmed that Ben Roethlisberger won't start.

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Player X vs. Player Y?" without any other mitigating factors. Of course, I welcome debate - if you think I'm wrong, let me know. But please check out the rankings first before asking your start/sit question. This truly reflects my opinion in my leagues.

Starting after Week 1, the rankings for the subsequent week will first post on Tuesday nights. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning. I will post at the top of the article in bold font when ranking updates are in progress and when they're complete.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments. Please keep it friendly.

Quarterbacks

2.	Deshaun Watson HOU vs. TEN Note: Watson hurt his throwing arm on the Texans' last offensive play of the game, but afterwards said that he'd play this week against the Titans. We'll see how he practices this week, but for now I'll treat him as if he's playing. Expected to start and play a full game.*
3.	*Ryan Tannehill TEN at HOU Note: Tannehill was awful in the snow against the Packers, throwing two interceptions and losing a fumble. But he was better in fantasy than in real life, thanks to a long rushing touchdown.

6.	*Jalen Hurts PHI vs. WAS Note: In case you were uncertain, Hurts has officially been named the starter again this week.
7.	Baker Mayfield CLE vs. PIT Note: Mayfield should get his wide receivers back this week, presumably, and will be up against a Steelers defense that will likely be resting many of their veterans. All four receivers are indeed back, plus the Steelers won't play at least T.J. Watt and Cameron Heyward.*

9.	Tom Brady TB vs. ATL Note: Brady will still play despite the Bucs having wrapped up a postseason spot - a win clinches the five-seed, which is a significant advantage in terms of who they would face in the first round.*

11.	Kyler Murray ARZ at LAR Note: Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is 'hopeful' that Murray will be in a position to play against the Rams. Chris Streveler is the backup. Put in a full practice on Wednesday, and should be good to go.*

15.	*Mitchell Trubisky CHI vs. GB Note: It's pretty clear that the Bears are better with Trubisky than Foles, but he still makes some terrible mistakes, including an awful interception against the Jaguars in the end zone last week.

17.	Tua Tagovailoa MIA at BUF Note: Tagovailoa will start again this week despite getting benched for Ryan Fitzpatrick last Saturday, with Fitzpatrick leading the Dolphins to a win. Starting again this week, this time without a net as Fitzpatrick tested positive for COVID-19.*
18.	*C.J. Beathard SF vs. SEA Note: Beathard will start again this week and the Niners don't plan on activating Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) from IR.

23.	Matthew Stafford DET vs. MIN Note: Stafford left with an ankle sprain on the first drive last week, but it's hard to trust him this week, even though he hopes to suit up. Stafford practiced Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday, and hopes to gut it out against a Vikings team that's missing four defensive starters. Do you feel lucky?*
24.	Daniel Jones NYG vs. DAL Note: Jones (hamstring) has been playing form the pocket more and will continue to do so in the short-term.*
25.	*Sam Darnold NYJ at NE Note: Darnold has gone three games in a row without an interception.
26.	Alex Smith WAS at PHI Note: Coach Ron Rivera said that he's optimistic that Smith (calf) will be able to start this week. Finally practiced on Friday, the team won't decide on a starter until they see how Smith feels on Saturday. They promoted a third quarterback, Steven Montez, from the practice squad, to give them extra depth just in case. Smith has been cleared to start Sunday night's game against the Eagles.*
27.	*Cam Newton NE vs. NYJ Note: Newton got benched for Jarrett Stidham on Monday night, but it appears that Newton will start again this week against the Jets.
28.	Mike Glennon JAC at IND Note: Coach Doug Marrone said he hasn't decided whether Glennon or Gardner Minshew will start against the Colts. Naturally. Glennon has been confirmed as the starter.*

30.	*Mason Rudolph PIT at CLE Note: Rudolph will get a spot start in Week 17, as the Steelers will rest Ben Roethlisberger and other veterans.
31.	*Chad Henne KC vs. LAC Note: The Chiefs have clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC, so there's a really good chance that Henne will start and Patrick Mahomes will be rested.
32.	*John Wolford LA vs. ARI Note: Wolford will take over for Jared Goff this week. He was an undrafted rookie in 2018, played in the AFF and has been with the Rams since April 2019. He'll be backed up by Bryce Perkins and Blake Bortles, who signed with the Rams on Tuesday.

34.	*Taylor Heinicke WAS at PHI Note: Heinicke replaced Dwayne Haskins on the last two drives Sunday, throwing for 137 yards and a touchdown. Alex Smith is likely to start, but Heinicke is next in line.
35.	*Patrick Mahomes KC vs. LAC Note: Chad Henne is likely to start and give Mahomes the week off.

Brown was limited in practice early in the week with a shoulder issue, but he had a full practice Friday and was removed from the injury list. Cam Akers is expected to try to play, but I think that Brown will start and get more carries.*
