2024 Fantasy Outlook
Williams has been blessed with good QB play throughout his career, going from Philip Rivers to Justin Herbert and now joining forces with Aaron Rodgers in New York. The 2017 seventh overall pick played second fiddle to Keenan Allen during his seven years with the Chargers, reaching triple-digit targets just once (129 in 2021) while averaging at least 14.2 yards per catch and 8.9 per target in five straight seasons from 2018 to 2022. The 2021 campaign was easily his best, though heavily front-loaded with six of his nine TDs and 41 percent of his yardage coming in the first five weeks. He actually improved from 1.93 yards per route in 2021 to 2.00 YPRR in 2022, but he scored just three TDs while missing four full games and most of two others with ankle and back injuries. Williams then got off to a fast start in 2023 with 249 yards and 26 targets through 11 quarters, only to suffer an ACL tear in the second half of Week 3. He anticipates being ready for the start of 2024 -- a month before his 30th birthday -- but he was released by the Chargers in March and had to settle for a one-year, $10 million contract. Williams' per-game and per-route production from the past three years in Los Angeles hint at upside in a Jets offense that doesn't have much else behind WR Garrett Wilson and RB Breece Hall, but it depends on both Williams and Rodgers returning to form after severe, late-career injuries. Reaches end zone in team debut
Williams secured his lone target for a 32-yard touchdown during Sunday's 28-27 win over the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Williams was on the field for just nine offensive snaps during his first game in a Steelers uniform, but he made his presence felt by securing a go-ahead touchdown with 2:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. It was the first time he'd reached the end zone this season, after being shut out in nine games for the Jets, and his volume with the Steelers figures to grow as he gets more familiar with the playbook.

Williams exploded early in 2021 but otherwise has been stuck in the good-but-not-great category -- mildly disappointing for someone drafted seventh overall in 2017. Even Keenan Allen's absence for seven games last year wasn't enough to spark Williams for huge numbers, with the Chargers instead throwing a boatload of passes to RB Austin Ekeler. It is possible new OC Kellen Moore helps Williams' cause, especially if he brings the fast-paced approach from Dallas, but it mostly appears Williams just doesn't have the separation skills to draw a huge volume of targets even in a friendly offense. He's always been excellent on jump balls and in the red zone, leaving the crafty route-running underneath to Allen and Ekeler. Injuries have also been an on-and-off issue, with an ankle sprain costing Williams four games last season and a back fracture holding him out from the playoffs. He should have plenty of time to recover before training camp and learn the ins-and-outs of Moore's offense, but Williams is no longer the only show in town when it comes to deep-ball prowess after the Chargers spent their first-round pick on 6-4 wideout Quentin Johnston, who ran a 4.49 at his pro day. While unlikely to outproduce Williams right away, Johnston could take some of the deep looks that went to his veteran teammate in past seasons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Good fit with Steelers?
Williams is a strong fit with the Steelers due to his size and ability to win 50-50 balls, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams struggled to find his fit with the Jets and showed a lack of rapport with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. It could be a different story for him in Pittsburgh, as he should immediately become the second priority for targets behind George Pickens. Williams' size -- he's listed at 6-foot-4 and 218 pounds -- is also a positive given Russell Wilson's preferred style of throwing contested deep balls.
