Jason Huntley

Huntley, a fifth-round pick by the Lions in 2020, has appeared in just six NFL games in his two professional seasons. Just one of those games came last season, with the second-year back rushing 13 times for 51 yards in Week 18 against the Cowboys. Miles Sanders, Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott are all back on the roster this season, so Huntley looks like nothing more than the Eagles' fourth running back. It will likely take multiple injuries ahead of him for him to play a meaningful role.

Huntley was a fifth-round pick of the Lions in 2020 but was waived in the preseason, allowing the Eagles to scoop him up. He would only see action when Miles Sanders was out, and even then the New Mexico State product only touched the ball five times, gaining 19 yards. He's speedy and has the ability to return kicks which could aid his pursuit of the final roster spots in the Eagles backfield behind Miles Sanders and Boston Scott.

Despite already having Kerryon Johnson and Bo Scarbrough on hand, Detroit wasn't done adding to its backfield after drafting D'Andre Swift in the second round of this spring's draft. Ultimately taking Huntley in the fifth, the Lions managed to add someone with a completely different skill set than his new counterparts, and it's possible he may have a role in the offense right away. At 5-8, 190 with 4.4 speed, the New Mexico State product adds a uniquely explosive element to the run game, and there are whispers that the Lions could use him like they did J.D. McKissic last year. McKissic was only sharing the load with, at most, Johnson and Scarbrough, and Huntley arguably will have the best running back prospect in the draft added to the fold. While he could certainly make a name for himself on gadget plays, Huntley probably won't see enough snaps to warrant fantasy consideration in most formats.
