Denver Broncos
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Lutz followed Sean Payton to Denver last season after a six-year stint kicking for the Saints, moving from a friendly dome to the favorable thin air in Denver. Lutz made 30 of 34 field-goal attempts (88.2 percent) and 29 of 31 PATs (93.5 percent), boosting his career rates to 85.2 percent and 97.2 percent, respectively. He then re-signed on a two-year contract this offseason, but his reliable work doesn't seem especially promising for fantasy in light of Denver's shaky QB situation and overall lack of talent. Lutz does at least have job security, plus the favorable locale for long-distance tries. Read Past Outlooks

Lutz did not convert on either of his two field-goal tries but made both of his two extra-point attempts during Sunday's 16-14 loss at Kansas City.
ANALYSIS
In a game decided by just two points, Lutz converting on just one of his field-goal attempts could have made the difference. It's hard to pin too much blame on him though, as his 60-yard try at the end of the half came up just short, and what would have been a game-winning 35-yarder as time expired was blocked by Leo Chenal. He'll be looking to bounce back in Week 11 versus the Falcons.

One of the better fantasy options during the latter years of the Drew Brees era, Lutz has since fallen down the ranks for good reason, missing 2021 due to injury and then converting only 23 of 31 FGAs (74.2 percent) in 2022. He's now entering the final year of his contract, and the Saints traded him to the Broncos in late August to reunite Lutz with coach Sean Payton.
Lutz missed the entire 2021 season after undergoing core-muscle surgery last August and suffering a setback in his recovery. Apart from that, he's been one of the more reliable kickers in the NFL since entering the league in 2016, with the added benefit of kicking in a dome for home games. The Saints might carry another kicker on the roster to provide competition this summer, but it’s still Lutz’s job to lose.
Lutz finished 2020 with a career high for PATs and a career low for FGAs, with the Saints ranking fifth in red-zone TD rate (71.6 percent). The post-Brees era brings some uncertainty, but the Saints retained most of their other key players, despite facing major cap challenges. Lutz is still a reliable kicker who plays his home games in a dome, and his team doesn't necessarily need great QB play to move the ball.
Lutz is No. 4 in career FG percentage (87.5) and also attached to a prolific offense. Even a Drew Brees injury in 2019 wasn't enough to prevent Lutz from finishing top 8 among kickers for a fourth time in as many seasons. The 26-year-old benefits from a plethora of dome games, but he's also been impressive outdoors, converting 85.7 percent of field goals and 95.9 percent of PATs.
Lutz finished seventh or higher in kicker fantasy scoring each of his three NFL seasons, with impressive accuracy and a wealth of PAT opportunities making up for Drew Brees' consistent success turning red-zone possessions into touchdowns. The young kicker is unlikely to challenge for the league lead in field goals as long as Brees is still playing, but there's a lot to be said for the security of this setup.
Lutz was tied for fifth among kickers in fantasy scoring in 2016 and found his way into the top 10 (seventh) again in 2017. His conversion rates suggest he's only a league-average kicker or perhaps a bit better, but that's more than enough to get the job done when playing for a dome team that has Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas lining up behind a solid offensive line. There's minimal risk involved.
Lutz had a successful rookie season last year, finishing with the fifth most points thanks in part to his 98.0 percent accuracy on 50 PAT attempts -- he was one of only two kickers with that many. Those tries helped make up for his 34 field-goal attempts, which tied for 11th, while his accuracy was only 23rd. Part of his accuracy issues were from deep, as four of his six misses came from at least 50 yards. Given the Saints' offensive upside, Lutz likely will get enough attempts to make him a strong fantasy option, particularly when he's playing at home.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might return to Denver
KDenver Broncos
February 26, 2024
Lutz and the Broncos have mutual interest in a new contract, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran kicker won't get the franchise tag from the team, but a multi-year deal could be in the works. Lutz thrived at altitude in Denver last year after spending the first six seasons of his career kicking indoors in New Orleans, and his 88.2 percent conversion rate on field goal attempts in 2023 was his highest mark since 2019.
