The Colts cut Ward on Sunday.
ANALYSIS
Ward was a late addition to the Colts' training camp roster, and across his two preseason outings he recorded two catches for 16 yards. Should he clear waivers, Ward will look to link up with another team, likely on the practice squad in a depth wide receiver role. He last saw NFL action in 2021 with the Eagles.

News continues to churn out of training camps, including in Seattle where Kenneth Walker returned to practice Saturday.
There was a shakeup in the Eagles backfield in the offseason, but Philadelphia nonetheless will ride the coattails of QB Jalen Hurts as he goes to work with the premier WR duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
With A.J. Brown in town, the Eagles may boast their best roster top to bottom since 2017, which ended with the team hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. For it all to work, though, Jalen Hurts must take the next step.

2020
Ward tumbled down the depth chart last season, catching just seven passes for 95 yards after pulling down 53 passes for 419 yards the year prior. Rookie first-rounder DeVonta Smith overtaking him was no surprise, but he also slipped behind second-year sixth-rounder Quez Watkins. With the Eagles adding A.J. Brown as well this offseason, Ward's path to significant playing time seems murky. At best, he'll be competing with Zach Pascal and Jalen Reagor to serve as the team's fourth wideout, making him a low-ceiling, low-floor option.

Poised for key role again?
Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP believes Ward could lead the Eagles wide receivers in receptions this season, per Jon Ritchie.
ANALYSIS
Injuries elevated Ward to a key role late last season, highlighted by a game-winning touchdown in a seven-catch performance Week 15 at Washington. The Eagles are hoping to get healthier seasons from DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery in 2020, but the aging wideouts haven't exactly been reliable from a medical standpoint. Thus, it won't come as a huge surprise if the team ends up relying on Ward and first-round pick Jalen Reagor, along with tight ends Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert. Granted, other reports have suggested Ward is closer to the roster bubble than he is to a key role on offense.
