2024 Fantasy Outlook
Boswell is entering his 10th season as Pittsburgh's kicker, having produced six years with a FG percentage above 90 and two years south of 72 percent. Overall, he's sixth in career FG percentage (87.2), including 30 of 37 from 50-plus yards (81.1 percent) despite playing his home games in one of the less-friendly stadiums for kicking. Twenty-one of his 30 career makes from 50-plus yards came the past three seasons, but Boswell's fantasy value has nonetheless been marginal thanks to a lack of PAT volume (three straight years with fewer than 30 tries). The strong track record at least makes him a consideration for favorable matchups, with upside to be an every-week starter if the Pittsburgh offense breaks out of its long-term slump under OC Arthur Smith and QB Russell Wilson. Boswell made only 71.4 percent of his field-goal attempts last year, ending a three-year streak of at least 90 percent. The catch? Nineteen of his 28 attempts came from 40 yards or longer, and while he made only half in the 40-49 range, he went 7-for-9 from 50-plus. That, after going 8-for-9 from 50-plus the year before. And if 28 tries doesn't sound like many, consider that Boswell missed five games and was attached to a lousy offense. The Steelers trust him, and while the struggles on offense may continue, a talented Pittsburgh defense can help put Boswell in range for three-pointers.
