2024 Fantasy Outlook
Frank Reich's plan to surround Bryce Young with reliable, veteran skill players last season was a massive failure. Sanders stumbled to career lows in rushing yards and yards per carry, as defenses had little reason to worry about Carolina's passing game and the team's offensive line couldn't open holes for him. Chuba Hubbard quickly passed the former Eagle on the depth chart, and the Panthers grabbed Jonathon Brooks in the second round of the 2024 Draft to eventually become their new feature back. Once Brooks proved he's fully recovered from his knee injury, Sanders could struggle to find snaps. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Productive in return to action
Sanders rushed 17 times for 66 yards and a touchdown and brought in three of four targets for 50 yards and another score in the Panthers' 44-38 overtime win over the Falcons on Sunday. He also fumbled once, but possession remained with Carolina.
ANALYSIS
Making his return from a six-game absence, Sanders had fresh legs and an exuberant play style in the wild regular-season finale. Sanders visited the end zone as both a rusher and receiver, striking via a 33-yard scoring reception and a game-winning one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and overtime, respectively. Sanders has had a rollercoaster first two seasons in Carolina due to both performance issues and injury, but he'll presumably have a chance for a clean slate and a healthy season in 2025.

Sanders may have preferred to stay in Philadelphia, where the running is easy and the touchdowns plentiful, but with the Panthers he'll make more money and have a secure rushing workload. Whereas the Panthers appear dependent on Sanders for regular production, the Eagles had a variety of options at their disposal and would sometimes go away from Sanders in the game plan. He'll likely have a a worse per-carry average and lower TD rate with the Panthers, but he may also get more overall touches after averaging 13.5 to 16.4 per game in four seasons with the Eagles. It could be a worthwhile tradeoff, especially if new coach Frank Reich can get the Panthers offense into some kind of shape. Chuba Hubbard looms as a capable alternative, but he's not as gifted of a runner as Sanders and might get the bulk of his work on passing downs, where Sanders is less useful. While that might come with risk of getting phased when the Panthers abandon the run, it's also possible Sanders gets more involved in the passing game (only 20 catches last year) on early downs as a check-down for rookie QB Bryce Young.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be moved before season
Mike Clay of ESPN believes Sanders could become available before the start of the season, with the Cowboys and Chargers as potential landing spots in such a scenario.
ANALYSIS
Sanders has been getting some first-team reps alongside Chuba Hubbard in practice with rookie second-round pick Jonathon Brooks unavailable as he completes his recovery from a knee injury. Carolina's choice to draft Brooks in the first place suggests the team may not have a favorable view of Sanders after the free-agent addition flopped in the first year of a four-year, $25.4 million contract in 2023. Sanders produced just 586 scrimmage yards for the Panthers after averaging 1,163 scrimmage yards over the previous four regular seasons with the Eagles.
