2024 Fantasy Outlook
Peoples-Jones is sticking around Detroit for another season after he was traded to the team from Cleveland, spending the final eight contests of the 2023 campaign with the Lions. The wide receiver will compete with Kalif Raymond for reps as Detroit's No. 3 option behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams in 2024 after Josh Reynolds left the team to join the Broncos this offseason. Peoples-Jones has shown promise in the past, most notably securing 61 receptions for 839 yards and three touchdowns over 17 games with the Browns in 2022. Now operating in Ben Johnson's offense in Detroit, which ranked second in the NFL last season with 258.9 passing yards per game, the wide receiver will have a decent chance at consistent production in 2024. Lands on practice squad
The Lions signed Peoples-Jones to the practice squad Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Peoples-Jones didn't manage to stick with Detroit's initial 53-man roster, but he'll continue his development with the team and remain in house as a pivot option. The 2020 sixth-round pick is coming off the worst season of his career, but he did pile up a 61-839-3 receiving line with the Browns back in 2022. He figures to be one of the first names called up in the regular season if the Lions suffer any injuries to their wide receiver corps.

2020
A 2020 sixth-round pick, Peoples-Jones progressed from part-time deep threat to regular starter in his third pro season, posting a 61-839-3 receiving line on 96 targets in 17 games last year. He saw 38 more targets in 2022 than he had in 2021, while his aDOT dropped from 15.4 to 11.7, his YPC from 17.6 to 13.8 and his YPT from 10.3 to 8.7. It was far more volume than he'd ever seen in the pros or college, having never topped 612 yards or 72 targets in three seasons at Michigan. Peoples-Jones primarily was drafted on the basis of athleticism -- something he showed off on a punt-return TD in last season -- after shining at the 2020 combine with a 4.48 40, 139-inch broad jump and 44.5-inch vertical at 6-2, 212. The Browns, however, acquired another impressive athlete this offseason with the trade for 2021 second-round pick Elijah Moore, who is much smaller (5-10, 178) but also more agile and faster (4.35 40). It's unclear if the two will compete for a starting job or Moore will be limited to slot work as the No. 3 receiver, but either way there's tougher target competition behind Amari Cooper this year with the Browns also adding WR Cedric Tillman in Round 3 to help QB Deshaun Watson.

Losing grip on WR3 role?
Colton Pouncy of The Athletic relays that Daurice Fountain, not Peoples-Jones, has started alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams in three-wideout sets with the first-team offense.
ANALYSIS
Peoples-Jones and Kalif Raymond were projected to compete for the WR3 job behind St. Brown and Williams after Josh Reynolds joined Denver in free agency. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson told reporters Thursday that he wants consistency out of that role, and while Peoples-Jones has made his fair share of plays as a pass catcher and blocker, Fountain has been the one who has lined up with the first-team offense. It's still early in training camp, but Peoples-Jones will need to step up in practices if he wants to earn a consistent role on offense.
