Haskins began the 2020 season as Washington's starter but was demoted to a backup role after Week 4. He returned to the starting role late in the year after Alex Smith suffered a calf injury, but failed to impress and was waived by Washington prior to Week 17. In his seven games, Haskins completed 148 of his 241 passes for 1,439 yards, to go with five touchdowns and seven interceptions. Ben Roethlisberger re-signed with the Steelers on a one-year deal in March and enters the season as Pittsburgh's clear starting quarterback, but Haskins should compete with Mason Rudolph for the No. 2 gig ahead of the regular season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
QB competition officially underway
Haskins is now officially a candidate for the Steelers' starting quarterback job in the wake of Ben Roethlisberger's retirement announcement Thursday, Dan Lyons of SI.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2019 15th overall pick spent the entire 2021 season, his first in Pittsburgh, behind Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph. Notably, Rudolph only has one more game of NFL experience than Haskins despite entering the league a year earlier, and both have had the same amount of time in coordinator Matt Canada's system. Haskins is a restricted free agent this offseason, but Lyons reports the Ohio State product is expected to be retained by the Steelers.
