Slayton scored a 33-yard TD in the first half, but his most memorable play of the game came with about six minutes remaining when he dropped what was nearly a wide-open, 43-yard TD to give the Giants a 10-point lead. To be fair, the pass was overthrown, with Daniel Jones forcing Slayton to speed up and fully extend on a play where even an underthrow likely would've gone for six points. Danny Dimes!
- Slayton also dipped to 56% of snaps, down from 70% the previous week. He's crushing ADP so far — 6-119-1 on 13 targets — but without huge snap/route numbers to back it up. In other words, he still figures to be a distant third behind Golladay and Shepard, and with Toney potentially stealing more snaps eventually.
Shepard is tied with DJ Moore for the 12th-largest target share (27.9%) through two weeks. He hasn't seen any deep passes, but Shepard does have eight intermediate targets (10-19 yards downfield) to go with 11 shallower throws. His 9.1 aDOT has contributed to an 84.2% catch rate, while Golladay (15.3 aDOT, 50.0%) and Slayton (15.2 aDOT, 46.2%) have been less successful.
Rudolph has seven targets on 42 routes, and Evan Engram (calf) could be back as soon as Week 3. The red-zone reindeer may have left his sleigh in Minnesota (or the year 2017).
He hasn't done much so far, but Golladay does rank 16th in the league with 214 air yards. But he's seen just two targets 20-plus yards downfield, while nine of his 14 looks have come on intermediate passes (10-19 yards). Slayton leads the team with three deep targets, including two catches for 75 yards and a TD (plus the near-miss Thursday night). But hey, at least Kenny G tried to warn us...

Taylor Heinicke is a bit like Ryan Fitzpatrick; the kind of bad that can work out alright for his top pass catchers. A mix of aggressive throws and dumb mistakes could work fine for McLaurin and Thomas, at least.
Humphries had a far busier night after just two targets on 60% snap share in the opener. And Brown handled a three-down role again, catching three of six targets for 34 yards. TBD on who loses more snaps if/when Curtis Samuel (groin) returns.

Terry McLaurin was shadowed by James Bradberry on 83% of his routes, catching 5 of 7 targets for 47 yards, TD, INT against Bradberry in coverage.

The Saints ran only 43 plays, including 22 pass attempts. And RB Alvin Kamara took six of the 21 targets.
After scoring two TDs on 12 snaps in the opener, Johnson took more playing time away from Trautman, who ran only seven routes. Last week, Trautman played 80% of snaps and I suggested his breakout case wasn't completely dead. But even I'm ready to waive the white flag after this one.
Callaway is at 3-22-0 on six targets through two weeks, despite snap counts suggesting he's the No. 1 receiver. There's a buy-low argument, but it's only relevant in deep leagues at this point. Callaway has already wasted two of his games without Michael Thomas (PUP - ankle) in the lineup.

Anderson has only eight targets this year, but four have come 20-plus yards downfield, including the 57-yard TD in Week 1. Maybe there's a middle ground between his Jets-years usage and his 2020 usage as more of quick-pass catcher. Or maybe he's just not a priority relative to Moore and Christian McCaffrey.
Moore, on the other hand, is down to 9.2 aDOT, but he still has a strong air-yard share (33.7%) thanks to seeing so many targets (t-12th in the NFL with 27.9% team share).
Through two weeks, Marshall has run 46 routes, compared to 71 for Moore and 67 for Anderson. The rookie will need more snaps and more downfield looks (5.0 aDOT on nine targets) before he reenters mainstream fantasy consideration. Either that, or an injury to Moore/Anderson. (I still think Marshall will be a top-three WR from this rookie class.)

Uzomah has seen just four targets, but he's played 74% and 73% of snaps through two weeks, running a route on 57.6% of Joe Burrow's dropbacks. The three WRs are all at 85% or higher.

Chicago attempted only 24 passes, playing with a lead and a backup QB for much of the afternoon.
Justin Fields' 15 pass attempts this season have yielded four targets apiece for Mooney, Robinson and Godwin.
Kmet fell off after seven targets in the opener. Graham isn't getting enough playing time to have any value of his own, but he's still a thorn in Kmet's side. The second-year pro ran only 16 routes in Week 2.
Through two games, Mooney has as many targets (15) as Robinson and slightly more air yards (134, 106). But both have aDOTs well below 10.0, and it's hard to bet on the Bears suddenly becoming proficient at downfield passing. Even if Justin Fields is effective, that probably won't be his strength right away. Mooney's usage is nonetheless interesting, especially after the solid finish to his rookie campaign.
Too early to panic on Robinson, but maybe we can say it was a mistake to assume the 33-year-old version of Andy Dalton was "by far the best QB that Robinson has played with". Not my words. Definitely not my words. But it was a thing people were saying this spring/summer. Presumably people who haven't watched Dalton play in a few years...

Odell Beckham (knee) missed another game, and Jarvis Landry played just one snap — a nine-yard reception — before exiting with an MCL injury. Landry was placed on IR, ruling him out for at least three more games.
This is the dream scenario for Peoples-Jones to thrive, playing with no Beckham/Landry but an otherwise healthy offense. And yet, DPJ has just two targets this year, despite playing 80% and 75% of snaps. He'd still be my pick if I had to roster a Browns wideout (non-OBJ) for Week 3. Peoples-Jones still has time to make good on the summer hype.
The WR injuries also open up an opportunity for more TE targets, but it's hard to pick one for a fantasy lineup when Hooper (30 routes), Njoku (25) and Bryant (20) all have run routes on less than 60% of Baker Mayfield's 53 dropbacks. Not seeing much/any upside here.
Despite Landry's injury, Schwarts actually saw his snap share drop by four percentage points compared to Week 1: 53% to 49%. And he finished without a catch on one target, after going 3-69-0 on five targets in the opener. It looks like Schwartz is the No. 3 receiver even if both Landry and Beckham are sidelined, with Peoples-Jones and Higgins both getting more snaps/routes.

This may be the tightest rotation I've seen in an NFL game, with four pass catchers playing more than 90% of snaps. The Rams used just one other wide receiver (DeSean Jackson - three snaps) and one other tight end (Johnny Mundt - three snaps). Plus, RB Darrell Henderson was in an every-down role before he left with a rib injury. Who needs depth!
Stafford is averaging only 28 pass attempts through two games, in part because the Rams have mostly played with leads and in part because they've had just 52 and 59 snaps through two games. Between that and Kupp's league-high 38.2% target share, there hasn't been much volume for the other pass catchers.
Actually, Woods' target share (23.6%) is right in line with expectations, perhaps even a bit better. And he already has three carries for 13 yards. In other words, he'll be fine once Kupp cools off a little and the Rams throw more passes.
In terms of production, Jefferson took a huge step back from Week 1 (2-80-1). But he saw the same number of targets (three) and upped his snap share from 69% to 92%. Jefferson ran a route on every Matthew Stafford dropback.
Higbee played every snap for a second straight week, but this time he had just one target and seven pass-blocking snaps. In Week 1, he got six targets and was used as a pass blocker just twice. Still, the every-down role is promising. Don't sell low after an unlucky dud.

Pittman bounced back strong after seeing just four targets on 43 routes the previous week. Both games count, and he's now averaging 5.5 catches for 76.0 yards on 8.0 targets — a nice start to the season, but not enough evidence to call him a legit No. 1. However, he should continue seeing plenty of targets, at least until T.Y. Hilton (IR - neck) is available... whenever that is.
- Unfortunately, Pittman might have to work with Jacob Eason for a week or two, as Carson Wentz is dealing with injuries to both ankles. Not that Wentz has been all that good, but Eason likely is worse.
Rookie TE Kylen Granson played only 9% of snaps for a second straight week, while Doyle got most of the snaps in obvious passing situations. It looks like less of a committee than most, including me, had thought; Doyle has 12 targets through two games, playing 59% and 75% of snaps.
- Just remember that Doyle is still a low-ceiling player; one with a career average of 9.2 yards per catch and a career high of five TD catches in a season. And while he did have a 34-yard gain Sunday... it was the first 30-yard play of his nine-year career. Heck, I've seen RotoWire editors who can run a 40 faster than Doyle.

Keelan Cole played 16 snaps but wasn't targeted in his Jets debut.
Kroft has seven targets on 47 routes, while Griffin has eight targets on 29 routes. Neither has ever drawn targets at a high rate, so a three-down role likely is needed for any shot at fantasy value. Neither has a large enough route share to get it done.

Hamler took 52% of his snaps in the slot, well ahead of Patrick (22%) and Sutton (15%) but still less than a true slot specialist. It seems the Broncos also rotated Hamler in for one/two-receiver packages, costing Sutton/Patrick a few snaps in the process.

Williams made his 2021 debut after a long rehab from 2020 foot surgery. He didn't play much but did get three targets.
The blowout fixed Gesicki's usage stats after a silent Week 1, but he finished with a modest 3-41-0 line on an ugly day for Miami's offense.
The blowout also impacted snap shares. Prior to the fourth quarter, Parker was at 89.7%, Waddle at 75.9% and Gesicki at 74.1%. They all rested at the end.

Edwards and Ruggs still don't play more than three-quarters of snaps, but the route shares are pushing close enough to 90 percent that it doesn't really matter apart. Gruden likes to run from power sets and throw from spread sets, even if it's expected. Waller, of course, has an every-down role, so he won't miss out on many routes regardless.
Renfrow dropped from 55% in Week 1 to 44% snap share in Week 2 with the Raiders leading after halftime. But he still saw seven targets, and remains second on the team with 16 through two games. Renfrow has been targeted on 23.7% of routes for his career, so while eight targets per game is asking too much, six is within reason. Renfrow is good at getting open, even if he lacks the speed to separate beyond that first yard or two.

Johnson injured his knee on the last play of the game. Any missed time would be huge for Claypool, who has often been limited to around 75% route share since joining the starting lineup last year. The Steelers sub Claypool out for James Washington at times, but both will get more snaps and targets if Johnson is out.
- The Steelers also would figure to use more two-TE sets, with Freiermuth already making his move to overtake Ebron. After one target and 50% of snaps in the opener, Freiermuth bumped up a little to 59% and four targets in this one.

Samuel is second in the league with a 53.6% share of team air yards. That's a commentary on a lot of things, including his target share (37.7%) and the lack of downfield passing in San Francisco. But Samuel is also showing he can be a more complete receiver, with his aDOT up from 2.1 last season to 7.1 this year. That's still extremely low for a No. 1 receiver, but it's at least not the gargantuan outlier anymore.
- Samuel has 11 targets within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, but he also has eight intermediate looks (six catches for 140 yards) and the one deep chance (the 79-yard TD in Week 1). Plus, he's Deebo Samuel, so of course he's tied with Rondale Moore for the league lead in YAC (157).
Kittle finished with only 4-17-0, but he ran a route on 87.9% of QB dropbacks, up from 57.1% in the season opener (when he took 10 snaps as a pass blocker).
- Aiyuk again shared playing time with Trent Sherfield, who dipped from 49% in Week 1 to 34% in Week 2. Aiyuk bumped up slightly from 47% to 53%, but still saw just two targets and caught one pass for six yards. And yes, he returned a punt again, so no pretending he's not "fully healthy."

Goedert was scaled back with Ertz healthier than in Week 1 and the Eagles finding Ward some snaps. This might be as bad as it gets for Goedert's snap/route share, but it's a lower floor than I expected, if we're being honest. And let's hope it truly is the floor...
Reagor had a 36-yard TD called back on an illegal touching penalty. He's one small mistake away from a 9-90-2 receiving line on 12 targets through two games.

Jefferson leads the team in targets (19) and air yards (234). He'll be fine. Probably better than fine.

- Wilson, Gallup's replacement, saw just two targets while running routes on 63% of Dak Prescott's dropbacks. Wilson should see more targets in future weeks, but the route share is a bit disappointing.

Williams was peppered with short and intermediate targets for a second straight week. He's at 25.8% target share, a tick ahead of Allen (24.4%).
Palmer, the third-round rookie, has now caught each of his three targets for 38 yards while playing 17% and 25% of snaps. He could take the No. 3 job from Guyton, perhaps sooner than later.
Cook is at 15.1% target share and 59.8% route share (55 of 92 dropbacks). He'll beat his ADP if that continues and he stays healthy, though a few more snaps would certainly help, as it'll be hard to maintain 0.24 targets per route in an offense with Allen, Williams and Austin Ekeler.

The Chiefs ran only 49 plays, including 31 pass attempts. Patrick Mahomes has thrown just 36 and 31 passes through two games, producing 337 and 343 yards with three TDs in both games. The biggest thing costing him volume is his own long completions.
A 5-55-0 receiving line won't turn heads, but you might say this was Hardman's coming out party in terms of usage. The snap share was a career high, and the eight targets one off.
- Through two weeks, Hardman is at 17.5% target share and 82.6% route share (57 of 69 dropbacks). And he's getting work all over the field, with two deep targets (20+), two intermediate looks (10-19 yards) and then seven passes within 10 yards of the L.O.S.
- In other words, Andy Reid is giving Hardman every opportunity for a Year 3 breakout.

With No. 2 TE Nick Boyle (knee) out again, FB Patrick Ricard played 63% of snaps, up from 60% the previous week. The Ravens don't seem to trust backup tight ends Josh Oliver (15%) and Eric Tomlinson (15%).
Duvernay didn't see any targets as the No. 3 receiver, with his only points coming from a fumble recovery in the end zone.
Watkins has caught eight of 15 targets for 140 yards. With no TD and two drops, true, but Watkins does rank 14th in the NFL with 27.8% target share, while Brown is eighth at 29.6%. Just remember that Watkins is Watkins, plus first-round pick Rashod Bateman (IR - groin) will be back at some point.
Watkins, Brown and Andrews have each run 50+ routes on Lamar Jackson's 60 dropbacks. And they account for 41 of the 54 targets (76.0%), even with Andrews off to a slow start. You have to figure the big tight end will start to get some of those looks that have been going to Brown and Watkins.

Hockenson is in a Kelce-level role, albeit with less polish and far worse team context. But the usage is absolute best-case scenario, making Hockenson a strong TE1 even if/when the TDs start to dry up a bit.
Cephus finished with 4-63-1 and now leads the Detroit wide receivers in catches (seven), targets (13), yards (75) and TDs (two) despite playing only 35% of snaps Week 1. It should be him and Tyrell Williams (concussion) as the top-two receivers once Williams is healthy.

If there was any doubt after last week, let it be clear now that Cobb is merely the No. 4 receiver. Lazard and Valdes-Scantling didn't do much, but they both played four times as many snaps as Cobb, who did at least draw three targets on his five routes.
Nice job by Adams getting to the point where 13-177-0 through two weeks feels like underperforming. He'll rain TDs soon enough.
