The Texans brought Williams in for a workout Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Williams, who was let go last week by the Panthers, is drawing interest from several NFL teams. That the Texans had him in suggests they are not yet settled at wide receiver after bringing in several options at the position during free agency and the draft.

2019
Though the Dolphins opted to retain Williams via a one-year contract, he appears buried on the depth chart. After starting seven of eight games as a rookie UDFA back in 2019, Williams has had his appearances curtailed by injuries (a torn ACL and multiple foot issues), finishing the 2021 season with just a 6-71-0 stat line through eight appearances.
Williams burst onto the scene as a UDFA back in 2019, quickly earning a starting role in Miami's offense across from DeVante Parker, but injuries have limited him to a combined 16 games across two career seasons. Following an offseason that saw Miami sign 2016 first-rounder Will Fuller, then invest the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft on Jaylen Waddle, Williams' opportunity to cement a starting role appears to have all but dried up. He'll even face strong competition for the No. 4 role.
Williams got off to a strong start in his first eight games in the league with numbers that prorate to 64 catches for 856 yards and six TDs over 16 games. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in Week 9, ending his rookie campaign. At 6-5, 218, and running a 4.53 40 at his pro day last spring, Williams has the build, route-running skills, catch radius and athleticism to be the Dolphins' No. 1 receiver. Unfortunately, while he was hurt, 2015 first-round pick DeVante Parker went crazy in the season's second half and firmly established himself as the top dog. Williams expects to be healthy for the start of the year, but he might not return to 100 percent strength until midseason and likely will have to battle for targets behind Parker.
An underwhelming pro day and a 2017 off-field incident led to Williams being passed on in the 2018 NFL Draft despite having compiled a 96-1345-14 receiving line during his sole season at CSU. The Dolphins' wideout room remains nebulous at best behind DeVante Parker, Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson, giving Williams a chance to make the 53-man roster. While he could require time to develop at the NFL level, Williams has made a strong push for snaps throughout training camp and appears on track to surpass the likes of Brice Butler, Jakeem Grant and Isaiah Ford on the depth chart.

Generating interest
WRMiami Dolphins
August 29, 2022
Williams is drawing "healthy interest" around the league as a potential trade target, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 25-year-old has yet to play more than eight games in an NFL season due to various injuries, and his numbers have declined ever since a solid rookie campaign in 2019. He's been healthy this preseason, however, and Williams could offer some experience at wideout to a team with a thinner depth chart than Miami's.
