Ricky Seals-Jones

Seals-Jones is a college wideout turned tight end who has bounced around the NFL for a few years now. He's no real threat to Logan Thomas in Washington, but RSJ could have a decent role in the passing game if Thomas misses some time.

Seals-Jones joins his third team in four years after going undrafted in 2017. Despite going unselected, he's managed to start at least one game in each of his first three professional campaigns, including three last year as a member of the Browns. He finished the season with 14 grabs for 229 yards and four touchdowns, sporting a career-best 63.6 catch percentage and a career-high 10.4 receiving yards per target. He now finds himself situated behind Travis Kelce, who has missed just one regular-season game in the past six seasons, so Seals-Jones is unlikely to attain considerable fantasy value in 2020, barring a scenario in which Kelce misses time.

Seals-Jones burst onto the scene with a 12-201-3 line from Weeks 11-15 of the 2017 season. The Cardinals' ensuing coaching change yielded a feeble offense last year, and just about all members of the skill positions suffered as a result. Seals-Jones was among them, resulting in miserable output overall (5.0 YPT and a 49 percent catch rate on 69 targets). During the offseason, the Cardinals added Charles Clay, Maxx Williams and 2019 seventh-rounder Caleb Wilson to the TE room. One look at the group, and Seals-Jones sticks out as the likely candidate to prosper under new head mean Kliff Kingsbury.

Seals-Jones offers two of the sexiest words for any potential breakout tight end: "converted receiver." We're not looking for grunt-workers and blockers; we want guys who can create mismatches downfield. Given what Seals-Jones did last season with his 12 catches (16.8 YPC, three TDs), it's astounding the Cardinals didn't feature him more. Heck, RSJ had just two targets - and zero catches - in his final two appearances. But that was then, this is now. The Cardinals have new coaches, new quarterbacks and the same spotty depth at tight end. Arizona also has a messy situation at WR - only Larry Fitzgerald is a sure thing - though RB David Johnson figures to catch a bunch of passes. Some secondary target is going to quickly acclimate himself with the new regime, and Seals-Jones has every opportunity to enter the forefront of that conversation while fellow TE Jermaine Gresham rehabs from a Week 17 torn Achilles. The second-year tight end was charged with assault, criminal trespassing and disorderly following a July arrest, but he's unlikely to face any punishment from the NFL before the start of the season.
