Target Breakdown: Week 9 WR/TE Usage Recap & Week 10 Waivers Preview

Now it's time to look at wide receivers and tight ends, though it'll be a bit briefer than usual as yours truly makes his way back from New Orleans after watching the Ravens walk all over the Saints. I'll update the article with more commentary Tuesday night / Wednesday morning, but for now I just want to make sure all the tables and stats are up before waivers run Tuesday night for some of the less-enlightened fantasy leagues.

Wilson easily led the team in receiving for a second straight week, finishing with 8-92-0 after 6-116-0 the week before.
Conlkin has topped 70% snap share in three straight and hovered around two-thirds route share during that time, though Conklin saw one more target in this one.
Mims was a full-time player in the absence of Corey Davis (knee), while Moore and Berrios essentially shared the No. 3 role. The three combined for 18 yar on six targets, and Moore wasn't targeted even once.

Hill only needed eight targets for another huge game. It was a familiar story for the Dolphins, with big plays on offense and long drives on defense suppressing the team's overall play volume (but not necessarily fantasy production... those chunk gains go a long way for Hill, Waddle and QB Tua Tagovailoa).
Sherfield again worked ahead of Cedrick Wilson, who was targeted twice on six routes and had 23 yards.

- Osborn's aDOT has dropped from 10.5 to 7.9, and his catch rate has only gone up a tiny bit (61% to 53.6%).
Jefferson has caught eight of 12 targets 20-plus yards downfield this year, while Thielen and Osborn both are 1-for-4, per PFF.

- He took one carry for 16 yards, after getting nine carries over the previous two weeks.
McLaurin has seen 28.4% of the targets from Taylor Heinicke, compared to 16.4% from Carson Wentz.
- McLaurin is averaging 5.3 catches for 80.3 yards and 0.33 TDs on 8.3 targets in Heinicke's three starts.
- Samuel has only 18.2% of Henicke's targets, thus far making up for lost receiving volume with better efficiency plus rushing stats.
Thomas has gone catchless on five targets in two games since returning from a calf injury. But he did run a route on more than two-thirds of dropbacks Sunday.

- Palmer is averaging 5.2 catches for 56.8 yards on 7.7 targets in the six games he's played with Keenan Allen (hamstring) inactive. (Mike Williams was also inactive for this one, and likely will miss at least one or two more games.)
Everett had exactly five catches for a third straight game, and has seven or more targets in three straight (but not TDs). He finished with only 36 yards.
Carter put up 5-53-0 on six targets, while Bandy had 5-26-0 on eight looks. Carter got just two more snaps, one more route and two fewer targets, but remained more productive (relatively speaking).

Moore put up 8-69-0, after 1-31-0 and then 7-92-1 in the first two games with Hopkins back.
- Moore is averaging 6.7 targets per game (and 9.2 YPT) since Hopkins returned, though it's mostly still short stuff (sub-5.0 aDOT) and carries have been sparse (five for one yard in six games).
- If we include games Hopkins missed, Moore is averaging 5.3 catches for 53.3 yards on 7.2 targets. WIth Hopkins playing, improved efficiency has made up for a tiny loss of volume (Marquise Brown's injury obviously also being quite relevant here).
Anderson took over a full-time role but was targeted only three times on 34 routes and finished with negative yards.

Kupp bounced back from his ankle injury the week before and washis usual brilliant self with 8-127-1 on nine targets.
- His teammates.... were less brilliant. Jefferson was catchless on five targets, including a brutal drop late in the game.
  - Jefferson and Skowronek split work; it was even in terms of routes but with Skowronek getting nearly all the snaps on run plays.
  - The 130 air yards might be taken as promising, if not for the ugly state of the Rams offense and how bad Jefferson has looked so far.
Hopkins stole some snaps/routes from Higbee, who also lost some routes to pass-blocking. The double-whammy left Higbee at only 58% route share, and with a season-low one target.
- Higbee's volume from the first half of the season may be a thing of the past. I have no hesitance dropping him in shallow leagues.

Godwin's aDOT this year is now all the way down to 5.5.
- It was 7.3 last year; 10.2 the first year with Tom Brady.
  - And yet... his catch rate is only 65%, following back-to-back years at 77%. I've been reluctant to admit it, but Godwin is more WR3 than WR2 this year.

- His target share (19.2%) remains modest, but it's 19.2% of a big pie and he has a 73.3% catch rate and 9.7 YPT .

  - He had a fourth-quarter drop that was then nearly intercepted.
One target for Duvernay with both Andrews and Rashod Bateman out? Come on, Greg Roman.
Jackson was targeted twice on five routes and caught ap ass for 16 yards in his Ravens debut. His role might frow some, but I doubt it'll be full-time at any point.

Johnson finished second on the team in routes but only had one target until late in the fourth quarter when he scored a 41-yard TD on a strange play where Ravens safety Chuck Clark let him run by because he thought he'd gone out of bounds.
Callaway was targeted five times but lost a lot of routes to White for a second straight week.
- Smith, meanwhile, continues to get most of the slot work.
Olave put up 6-71-0 on nine targets; the rookie's seventh straight game with at least four catches and more than 50 yards. Even in the season opener he caught three passe for 41 yards plus a two-point try.
