This article is part of our Target Breakdown series.
If you haven't already, be sure to check out sister article Backfield Breakdown before placing waiver claims on running backs or choosing starters for Week 10.
Now it's time to look at wide receivers and tight ends, though it'll be a bit briefer than usual as yours truly makes his way back from New Orleans after watching the Ravens walk all over the Saints. I'll update the article with more commentary Tuesday night / Wednesday morning, but for now I just want to make sure all the tables and stats are up before waivers run Tuesday night for some of the less-enlightened fantasy leagues.
Share Comparisons
Below we show target, route and air-yard shares for Week 9, compared to numbers for the season as a whole. Sorting by the delta columns is a quick way to find outliers (or trends... or injuries).
Note: The numbers below aren't adjusted for games that players have missed. I didn't have time this week, but we'll do it that way again next week. The good news, for now, is that RotoWire's advanced receiving stats page shows team shares for targets and air yards that are adjusted to only include the games in which a player was active.

- Samuel made the most of his four targets with 3-65-1 receiving, but it was his second straight week with only four looks, a season low.
- He took one carry for 16 yards, after getting nine carries over the previous two weeks.
- McLaurin has seen 28.4% of the targets from Taylor Heinicke, compared to 16.4% from Carson Wentz.
- McLaurin is averaging 5.3 catches for 80.3 yards and 0.33 TDs on 8.3 targets in Heinicke's three starts.
- Samuel has only 18.2% of Henicke's targets, thus far making up for lost receiving volume with better efficiency plus rushing stats.
- Thomas has gone catchless on five targets in two games since returning from a calf injury. But he did run a route on more than two-thirds of dropbacks Sunday.

- Lazard (shoulder) and Watson (concussion) returned from injuries, but then Doubs suffered a high ankle sprain on his first snap.
- Watson left the game later after taking a hard hit, though he reportedly avoided a second concussion in as many weeks.
- Watkins tied for second on the team in targets and was easily second in routes run
- He's dust, of course, as the Ravens discovered last year. The Packers might be better off giving Toure a shot.
- Tonyan dropped to 41% route share, down from 59% the week before and 55% for the season. That's something to watch moving forward, especially after Deguara caught five of five targets for 41 yards.
- Deguara, a 2020 third-round pick, previously had two or fewer targets every week this year.

- Marshall scored a 23-yard TD in the fourth quarter to finish with 3-53-1 on six targets, following 4-87-0 on nine targets the week before.
- The 2021 second-rounder is averaging 3.0 catches for 57.0 yards on 6.0 targets through three weeks as a starter, with 20.7% target share.
- Marshall hasn't done much on short throws (6-of-12 for 66 yards, per PFF), but he's caught seven of his 11 targets 10-plus yards downfield.
- Moore dropped to 2-24-0 after 6-152-1 and 7-69-1 the previous two weeks.
- He's averaging 3.9 catches for 49.9 yards, easily his lowest marks since his rookie year.
- Tremble continues to get more playing time than Thomas and scored his second TD in three weeks, but the 2021 third-rounder still has just one game with more than four targets and none with more than six.
- And Thomas still takes away enough routes/snaps to keep Tremble out of the TE2 picture for the most part.

- Irwin seems to have slipped ahead of Thomas as the No. 4 receiver, after splitting work with him the week before. TBD if either has a real role after the Week 10 bye, as there's perhaps a chance for Ja'Marr Chase (hip) to return, though it's more likely he misses additional time.

- If we include games Hopkins missed, Moore is averaging 5.3 catches for 53.3 yards on 7.2 targets. WIth Hopkins playing, improved efficiency has made up for a tiny loss of volume (Marquise Brown's injury obviously also being quite relevant here).

- Jefferson and Skowronek split work; it was even in terms of routes but with Skowronek getting nearly all the snaps on run plays.

- His teammates.... were less brilliant. Jefferson was catchless on five targets, including a brutal drop late in the game.
- Hopkins stole some snaps/routes from Higbee, who also lost some routes to pass-blocking. The double-whammy left Higbee at only 58% route share, and with a season-low one target.

- Woods finished without a catch on two targets, as another Malik WiIllis start meant fewer than 20 dropbacks again. TBD if Ryan Tannehill (ankle) can return for Week 10 against the Broncos and give Woods or Treylon Burks a shot at WR3/4 status.
- Willis completed five of 16 passes for 80 yards.
- Okonkwo, a fourth-round rookie, had a 48-yard gain but was still only the No. 3 TE in terms of snaps.

- Likely led the Baltimore skill players in snaps and tied Duvernay for the lead in routes, essentially filling a slightly lesser version of Mark Andrews' role with Andrews inactive due to a shoulder injury.
- Likely also led the team in targets but caught only one... fortunately it was a 24-yard TD.
- He had a fourth-quarter drop that was then nearly intercepted.
- Likely also led the team in targets but caught only one... fortunately it was a 24-yard TD.
- One target for Duvernay with both Andrews and Rashod Bateman out? Come on, Greg Roman.
- Jackson was targeted twice on five routes and caught ap ass for 16 yards in his Ravens debut. His role might frow some, but I doubt it'll be full-time at any point.

- Johnson finished second on the team in routes but only had one target until late in the fourth quarter when he scored a 41-yard TD on a strange play where Ravens safety Chuck Clark let him run by because he thought he'd gone out of bounds.
- Callaway was targeted five times but lost a lot of routes to White for a second straight week.
- Smith, meanwhile, continues to get most of the slot work.
- Olave put up 6-71-0 on nine targets; the rookie's seventh straight game with at least four catches and more than 50 yards. Even in the season opener he caught three passe for 41 yards plus a two-point try.
