We are doing mock drafts every Tuesday on RotoWire Fantasy Sports Today (XM 87, Sirius 210, 11-2p ET). This week we did a 10-team NL-only draft - 14 hitters, nine pitchers - each team starts two catchers. Here are the results:
You'll notice how quickly the hitting dries up. There was a comment by our producer Trevor Ray ("Hosmer's Heroes") that even first base was a scarce position. While I think you can find some useful players at the position in the mid-to-late rounds (and I grabbed Lucas Duda to that end), he's right. I made it my priority to load up my offensive slots early and take my chances with what remained in the final 4-to-5 pitching slots. I'm pretty happy with the results, though I think that I wouldn't have been able to land two closers when I did in most NL-only leagues - in my opinion, both Madson and Francisco slipped because of their respective default listings in MDC.
