Weekly Rankings: Week 11 Value Meter

Weekly Rankings: Week 11 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Sunday update complete (9:00 a.m. PT)

Bye Week - Cleveland, New Orleans, New York Giants, Pittsburgh.

Here are our rankings for the coming week at each position to help you decide your starting lineup. Our rankings are based on the following scoring system: four points for a passing touchdown; six points for a rushing/receiving touchdown; one point for every 20 passing yards; and one point for every 10 rushing/receiving yards. Flex Rankings are for PPR leagues.

Typically, this article will be posted on Tuesday evenings, roughly around 10:00 pm PT.

I will update these during the week, usually twice per week to account for injury or other news during practice. The timing of those updates will vary based on the news at hand and my schedule for the given week. But the first of those updates usually won't happen until Thursday. At any rate, I will post a "last updated" note at the top of the article, or an "update in progress" note if it's while I'm doing it.

By all means, if you want to discuss a rank, or want me to add a player, chime in on the comments. I try to be receptive to your feedback and try to respond to most comments, though on occasion the volume can be quite thick. Please refer to the rankings first when asking "should I start Player A vs. Player B?".

Quarterback

1.Tom Brady NE vs. Buf
Note: Brady is now without both Dion Lewis and Julian Edelman.

Quarterback

1.Tom Brady NE vs. Buf
Note: Brady is now without both Dion Lewis and Julian Edelman. Chances are that you won't have anyone better to bench him, but he's going to be hurt some by their absence.
2.Philip Rivers SD vs. KC
3.Carson Palmer ARZ vs. Cin
Note: I was aggressively wrong about Palmer against the Seahawks last week. I won't err on the side of caution with him again.
4.Aaron Rodgers GB at Min
Note: Averaged only 5.46 yards per his whopping 61 attempts against the Lions' woeful defense. Limited in Wednesday's practice with a sore shoulder, but had a full practice Thursday. The big question is whether he has been dealing with this for a while, or just last week? ***Full practice Friday, listed as probable.***
5.Cam Newton CAR vs. Was
6.Derek Carr OAK at Det
7.Matt Ryan ATL vs. Ind
8.Matthew Stafford DET vs. Oak
9.Joe Flacco BAL vs. StL
10.Blake Bortles JAC vs. Ten
11.Alex Smith KC at SD
12.Russell Wilson SEA vs. SF
13.Tyrod Taylor BUF at NE
14.*Tony Romo DAL at Mia
Note: Probably back from his broken collarbone this week - the Cowboys released Brandon Weeden as a step in that direction. ***Officially activated from IR on Saturday.***
15.Marcus Mariota TEN at Jax
16.*Matt Hasselbeck IND at Atl
Note: Getting another start with the Colts' Luck running out again.
17.*Mark Sanchez PHI vs. TB
Note: The good news is that Sanchez is familiar with the Eagles' offense after last year's experience. The bad news is that he displayed his down-side in the loss to the Dolphins. ***Bradford officially out, Thad Lewis is the backup.***
18.Ryan Tannehill MIA vs. Dal
Note: Tannehill's pocket presence Sunday was lacking - twice he got drilled from the blind side, once resulting in a safety. It marked the third game in a row that the Dolphins have allowed a safety.
19.Andy Dalton CIN at Ari
Note: We saw Bad Andy on Monday night, but he also wasn't helped by the OL, Eifert's drops or Green's fumble.
20.*Brock Osweiler DEN at Chi
Note: Osweiler will get the start this week after replacing Peyton Manning in last week's loss.
21.*Ryan Fitzpatrick NYJ at Hou
Note: Fitzpatrick had surgery on his left thumb on Friday - on Monday there were reports that he was 'fine.' He will start if he can practice this week. Will play this week, barring any setbacks. ***Officially cleared to start.***
22.Jameis Winston TB at Phi
23.*Teddy Bridgewater MIN vs. GB
Note: ***(Left shoulder) Listed as probable, will start.***
24.Jay Cutler CHI vs. Den
Note: Cutler came up big in what appeared to be a tough matchup, but I still don't trust him this week against the Broncos.
25.Kirk Cousins WAS at Car
26.*Case Keenum STL at Bal
Note: Named the starter this week.
27.*T.J. Yates HOU vs. NYJ
Note: Relieved Brian Hoyer on Monday night and was rewarded by DeAndre Hopkins' circus catch for the game-winner. ***Officially named the starter for this week. Brandon Weeden will be the backup.***
28.Blaine Gabbert SF at Sea
Note: ***Colin Kaepernick is on IR with a shoulder injury, giving Gabbert a little bit of job security.***
29.*Brian Hoyer HOU vs. NYJ
Note: Hoyer left on Monday night with a concussion. Not expected to play this week.
30.*Sam Bradford PHI vs. TB
Note: Suffered a concussion and a sprained AC joint in the loss to Miami. He was present at Tuesday's practice but did not participate.
31.*Nick Foles STL at Bal
Note: Demoted in favor of Case Keenum.
32.*Peyton Manning DEN at Chi
Note: Out with a partially torn plantar fascia in his right foot - could this be the end?
33.*Matt Cassel DAL at Mia
34.*Andrew Luck IND at Atl
Note: Out with a lacerated kidney and a partially torn abdominal muscle. ***NFL.com's Ian Rapoport estimates a mid-December return. This falls in line with the original 2-to-6 weeks estimate - so it's not really new news.***

Running Backs

1.Todd Gurley STL at Bal
2.Devonta Freeman ATL vs. Ind
3.*Adrian Peterson MIN vs. GB
Note: Limited practice Wednesday with a sore hamstring. ***Listed as probable.***
4.Lamar Miller MIA vs. Dal
5.DeMarco Murray PHI vs. TB

Note: (Abdomen) Did not practice Wednesday. ***'On the more positive side of questionable' according to coach Pete Carroll.***
17.Danny Woodhead SD vs. KC
18.*Darren McFadden DAL at Mia
Note: Limited at Thursday's practice with a groin strain. ***Officially listed as questionable but will start - however with wet conditions he might be limited.***
19.Chris Ivory NYJ at Hou
20.Matt Jones WAS at Car
Note: I wouldn't be that eager to start Jones this week - all three Redskins backs tore up the Saints, but Alfred Morris actually had more carries and now they face a much tougher test in Carolina.
21.James Starks GB at Min
22.Giovani Bernard CIN at Ari
23.*Ronnie Hillman DEN at Chi
Note: Will start ahead of Anderson this week.
24.Melvin Gordon SD vs. KC
25.*T.J. Yeldon JAC vs. Ten
Note: (Foot) Sat out practice Monday and Tuesday, but got rid of his walking boot Tuesday night and suggested that he would be fine for Thursday night's game. Expected to play Thursday night, but it's going to be a sloppy playing surface. I'm downgrading him as a risk to see his workload curtailed.
26.*Karlos Williams BUF at NE
Note: ***Limited with an illness Friday, but full practice Saturday and not on the injury list.***
27.Jay Ajayi MIA vs. Dal
28.*Shaun Draughn SF at Sea
Note: ***Getting another start this week - Hyde didn't make the trip.***
29.Jeremy Hill CIN at Ari

31.*Joique Bell DET vs. Oak

33.Dexter McCluster TEN at Jax
34.Charles Sims TB at Phi
35.Andre Ellington ARZ vs. Cin
Note: Scored a finishing touchdown, but still only got 35 of 89 snaps on offense.
36.Alfred Blue HOU vs. NYJ
Note: Ran for only 22 yards on 12 carries.
37.*Robert Turbin DAL at Mia
Note: Latched on with the Cowboys - could be in play if McFadden can't go. ***Now ahead of Smith on the depth chart.***
38.Denard Robinson JAC vs. Ten
Note: Had just one carry last week, but could get more work due to Yeldon's foot injury.
39.Antonio Andrews TEN at Jax
40.Thomas Rawls SEA vs. SF
41.C.J. Anderson DEN at Chi
Note: So much for the notion that Anderson is back - of course, Peyton Manning turning the ball over regularly stifled the opportunity to run, but even then, Hillman got more chances.
42.Theo Riddick DET vs. Oak
43.Chris Thompson WAS at Car
44.James White NE vs. Buf
Note: White was on the field for only 28 snaps, and had just one carry and one target against the Giants.
45.Javorius Allen BAL vs. StL
46.Jonathan Grimes HOU vs. NYJ
47.*David Cobb TEN at Jax
Note: Though he was inactive last week, Cobb might play Thursday night. Will be active Thursday night, though Andrews will still start.

58.Marcel Reece OAK at Det
59.*Alfred Morris WAS at Car
Note: Left late in the win over the Saints with a rib injury.
60.*Rod Smith DAL at Mia
Note: Now the backup behind McFadden, who injured his groin in Thursday's practice. Robert Turbin also looms. ***Turbin now ahead of Smith on the depth chart.***
61.Fred Jackson SEA vs. SF
62.Jerick McKinnon MIN vs. GB
63.Roy Helu OAK at Det
64.Mike Tolbert CAR vs. Was
65.Spencer Ware KC at SD
66.Stevan Ridley NYJ at Hou
67.David Johnson ARZ vs. Cin
68.*Matt Forte CHI vs. Den
Note: (Knee) Limited practice Wednesday, held out of Thursday's practice because it was moved indoors, but he's already stated that he wants to take his time coming back. If he plays this week I don't think he'll do much. ***Not expected to play, officially listed as questionable. The cold and icy conditions in Chicago make it less likely that they'd risk him.***
69.*Ryan Mathews PHI vs. TB
Note: Mathews sat out practice Tuesday with a concussion. Still not practicing. ***Officially ruled out.***
70.*Carlos Hyde SF at Sea
Note: (Foot) Still not at full speed despite the bye week. Did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. ***Didn't make the trip to Seattle.***

Wide Receivers

1.Julio Jones ATL vs. Ind
2.Mike Evans TB at Phi
3.Amari Cooper OAK at Det
4.DeAndre Hopkins HOU vs. NYJ

5.Larry Fitzgerald ARZ vs. Cin
Note: Arizona is approaching matchup-proof levels following their win in Seattle. (Ankle) Full practice Thursday.

18.Brandon LaFell NE vs. Buf
19.Jarvis Landry MIA vs. Dal
20.Kamar Aiken BAL vs. StL
21.*Danny Amendola NE vs. Buf
Note: Amendola will see an obvious bump to his value, especially in PPR leagues, with Edelman, even though he's a lesser version of him.
22.*Allen Hurns JAC vs. Ten
Note: After going to a specialist Monday to see if he might need surgery for a sports hernia, Hurns had a full practice Tuesday and looks like he'll play. He still probably will need a procedure, it's just a matter of when he'll have it. Listed as probable.
23.*Eric Decker NYJ at Hou
Note: ***(Knee) Listed as probable.***
24.*John Brown ARZ vs. Cin

38.Cole Beasley DAL at Mia

40.Jamison Crowder WAS at Car
41.*Jaron Brown ARZ vs. Cin
Note: Could play a bigger role if Michael Floyd's hamstring injury keeps him out.
42.*Dorial Green-Beckham TEN at Jax
Note: Played only 29 snaps despite Tennessee trailing the entire game, Kendall Wright out and Justin Hunter getting hurt in the game, and he wasn't targeted once. That should change, but after this game it's hard to trust him at all.

Note: (Knee) Limited practice Thursday, still unlikely to play this week. ***Able to practice Friday, active for this week's game.***
44.Andre Johnson IND at Atl
45.*Josh Huff PHI vs. TB
Note: Missed practice Thursday with back spasms.
46.Ted Ginn CAR vs. Was
47.Chris Givens BAL vs. StL
Note: Was Givens' touchdown (and Aiken's lack thereof) an indication of who might be more likely to get red zone work in the future? I think it's possible. Also, as DVR pointed out on Tuesday's show, it's another 'revenge game' under the radar.
48.Harry Douglas TEN at Jax
49.Wes Welker STL at Bal
50.*Marqise Lee JAC vs. Ten
51.Torrey Smith SF at Sea
52.Dontrelle Inman SD vs. KC

82.Jared Abbrederis GB at Min
83.Rashad Greene JAC vs. Ten

86.*DeVante Parker MIA vs. Dal
Note: (Foot) Active but not used in the win over the Eagles.
87.*Kendall Wright TEN at Jax
Note: (Knee) Limited practice Monday, didn't practice Tuesday. Not a great shot to play Thursday, let alone do anything significant. Officially ruled out.

Note: (Ankle) After a full practice Wednesday, he was unable to complete Thursday's practice.
89.*Eddie Royal CHI vs. Den
Note: (Knee) Still not practicing.

83.*Dorial Green-Beckham TEN at Jax
Note: Played only 29 snaps despite Tennessee trailing the entire game, Kendall Wright out and Justin Hunter getting hurt in the game, and he wasn't targeted once. That should change, but after this game it's hard to trust him at all.

Note: Missed practice Thursday with back spasms.

95.Chris Givens BAL vs. StL
Note: Was Givens' touchdown (and Aiken's lack thereof) an indication of who might be more likely to get red zone work in the future? I think it's possible. Also, as DVR pointed out on Tuesday's show, it's another 'revenge game' under the radar.
96.*Philly Brown CAR vs. Was
Note: Suffered a shoulder stinger in Thursday's practice. ***Inactive this week.***
