Rest-of-Season Projections
Healthy, intends to play in 2018
Novak (back, hip) has fully recovered from the injuries he sustained in 2017 and intends to continue playing during the upcoming season, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
The Chargers placed Novak on injured reserve in Week 14 after he experiences back issues and a strained hip. One of four kickers used by Los Angeles in 2017, Novak didn't do much to prove that he was worth retaining in his seven games with the club, converting 9-of-13 field-goal tries and missing one of his 18 extra-point tries. The 36-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent March 14 and will most likely be brought in by a team as camp competition rather than the top candidates for its kicking gig.

Novak set a team record with 35 made field goals last season, helping him finish tied with Dan Bailey and Stephen Gostkowski for the eighth-most points in the league. The Texans' struggles in the red zone (they finished 31st in red-zone TD conversion rate) allowed him to take (and make) 23 field goals from inside 40 yards. However, his 25 PAT attempts were the second fewest among kickers who played 16 games. The Texans' offense is expected to improve slightly, and if Novak doesn't get as many short field-goal attempts, his fantasy scoring would obviously decline.
