2024 Fantasy Outlook
Winston was stuck as the back up in New Orleans the last couple years, but he impressed as the starter in 2021 -- 14/3 TD/INT -- before tearing an ACL in Week 8. He could be back in a starting role this season after signing a one-year deal with the Browns in March. Deshaun Watson is recovering from shoulder surgery, and while he’s reportedly made steady progress, there’s a chance he’s not ready for Week 1. Assuming Winston beats out fellow free-agent acquisition Tyler Huntley, he’ll have a solid group of playmakers to exploit. The Browns added Jerry Jeudy this offseason to form an excellent WR trio with Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore, in addition to tight end Davis Njoku and running back Nick Chubb (though Chubb is coming off a knee injury). At 30, Winston probably isn’t as mobile as he once was, but he should still add some rushing upside. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Gutsy performance in gritty win
Winston completed 18 of 27 passes for 219 yards with no touchdowns and one interception and rushed three times for seven yards and a touchdown in the Browns' 24-19 win over the Steelers on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble and threw a two-point conversion pass.
ANALYSIS
Winston braved increasingly deteriorating weather conditions throughout the hard-fought victory, and he ultimately led the Browns to an upset with the help of his leaping two-yard fourth-down touchdown run and subsequent two-point conversion pass to David Njoku early in the fourth quarter. Then, after subsequently losing a fumble that led to a Steelers touchdown and throwing an interception in Pittsburgh territory on the next two possessions, Winston responded by driving the Browns for a game-winning score with a nine-play, 45-yard march through the snow. While he finished with his lowest passing yardage total yet over his four starts, that was understandable given the weather, the fact he lost wide receiver Cedric Tillman to a concussion in the second half and a matchup against one of the league's most talented defenses. It doesn't get any easier for Winston and the Browns, as they travel to face the Broncos in a Week 13 Monday night matchup on Dec. 2.

Winston once seemed like a long-term option at quarterback for the Saints after spending one year as the understudy to Drew Brees. But Winston battled back fractures early last season, leading him to lose the starting job to Andy Dalton after Week 3 for the remainder of the campaign. With Derek Carr signed to a four-year, $150 million contract this offseason, Winston's time in New Orleans looked to be over before he agreed to a restructured contract in March. As a result, the 29-year-old Winston will enter the 2023 season as a backup alongside dual-threat veteran Taysom Hill and rookie fourth-rounder Jake Haener.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Long-term opportunity to start
Winston has been confirmed as the Browns' Week 8 starter against the Ravens, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Winston was initially inactive in Week 7 but still appeared in the game as the Browns' emergency No. 3 quarterback. However, Schultz reports that Dorian Thompson-Robinson was the backup only because he had specific plays in the game plan, suggesting that Winston is likely to be Cleveland's long-term starter with Deshaun Watson sidelined for the season. Winston should provide a boost to the Browns' skill-position players, as he is not afraid to push the ball down the field -- something Watson struggled to do.
