Works out for San Fran
The 49ers brought in Yeldon for a workout Monday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Yeldon appeared in nine games over his previous two seasons with the Bills, totaling 27 rushes for 133 yards. The 49ers currently are dealing with injuries to nearly every rostered running back, so they brought in a trio of veteran running backs for workouts. Yeldon was joined by Lamar Miller and Duke Johnson.

Yeldon got a good amount of work his first four years in the league -- all in Jacksonville -- but his first year in Buffalo was a different story altogether. From 2015 to 2018 he averaged 468 yards rushing and a very solid 43 receptions per year. But 2019 was a different story, with Yeldon only seeing 150 snaps and gaining just 63 yards rushing and catching 13 passes. The coming campaign will be the second year of a two-year contract and he'll compete for playing time behind the one-two punch of Devin Singletary and rookie Zack Moss. With Taiwan Jones likely to make the team as a special teams ace, Yeldon, while currently No. 3 on the depth chart, could find himself in a battle with rugby star Christian Wade and undrafted free agent Antonio Williams for the last running back spot.

Trying out in Carolina
Yeldon has a tryout with the Panthers this week, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old spent the past two seasons in Buffalo but saw sporadic playing time, totaling 27 carries for 133 yards while catching 14 passes for 146 yards and two total touchdowns in nine games. Yeldon had 901 yards from scrimmage for the Jaguars in 2018, but he's been unable to make much of an impact since. Christian McCaffrey and rookie fourth-round pick Chuba Hubbard are set to lead Carolina's backfield in 2021, so Yeldon is unlikely to see much in the form of guarantees should a deal be reached.
