Stay For a Nightcap! Even More Debuts.

Debuts:

- Jarrett Hoffpauir batted ninth and went 1-for-3 with a run scored; he is going to start nearly every day at third base, at least until Travis Snider returns.
- Jay Sborz had a rough introduction, coming in after the third-inning rain delay against the Mets with none out and two on. He let in both runners he inherited as well as five of his own, retiring just two batters while giving up three hits and hitting two batters.
- Jason Castro went 1-for-4 and scored the Astros' lone run against Tim Lincecum.

Notables:

- Wade Davis failed to get out of the fifth inning, walking five batters over 4.1 innings and hitting another.
- Angel Pagan responded to the news of Carlos Beltran's impending rehab assignment and likely assignment to center field by going 4-for-6 in the Mets' romp over the Tigers. This isn't necessarily a Pagan vs. Beltran job battle, but also Jeff Francoeur could lose some time in this equation.
- Tim Lincecum (8IP, 1ER, 7K) seems fine, though beating the Astros again might not be the greatest measure of return to greatness.
- Tommy Hanson had his second "disaster" start of the year, giving up nine runs on 13 hits over just 3.2 innings, with zero strikeouts.

Save Chances:

- Matt Capps, "converted" (22). It was an ugly save for Capps, who started the ninth with a 3-run lead and gave up four hits and two runs before squeaking out the save.
- Heath Bell, converted (18).
- Brian Wilson, converted (20).
- Neftali Feliz, converted (20).
- John Axford, converted (5). This was a two-inning job, with Axford relieving an ineffective Todd Coffey in the eighth.
- Bobby Jenks, converted (15). Jenks' owners can thank Scott Linebrink for creating the save opportunity by pitching so ineffectively in the ninth.
- Matt Belisle, converted (1). Coming on the heels of some ugly outings by Manuel Corpas, Belisle got the ball on Monday. He gave up a run on two hits before finishing with the save. Huston Street is off the DL, but the Rockies wanted to ease him before he starts pitching in save situations.
- Francisco Cordero, converted (18). Cordero gave up two singles but induced a double play to get out of it.
- Brian Fuentes, converted (11). One single allowed in an otherwise quiet inning.
- David Aardsma, converted (16).

Lineup-o-logy:

- Jimmy Rollins hit in the leadoff spot in his first game off the DL, going 0-for-4.
- Coco Crisp came off the DL on Tuesday and took over center field, with Rajai Davis hitting the bench, at least for one day. This might be a case of four players for three spots for the near future, between Crisp, Davis, Ryan Sweeney and Conor Jackson.
- Xavier Nady was the DH for the Cubs against Jason Vargas.
- Chris Johnson hit sixth while taking over third base, with Jason Castro batting behind him in the Astros' lineup.

Injuries:

- Austin Jackson (back) returned to the lineup, going 1-for-4 with a run scored.

Stolen Bases

- Hanley Ramirez (13) - guess that hamstring is just fine; Nick Markakis (2); Adam Kennedy (9); Trevor Crowe (9); Jose Reyes (18); Jason Bay (10); Jeff Francoeur (7); Tony Gwynn Jr. 2 (11,12); Carl Crawford (25); Hunter Pence (8); Chipper Jones (5); Jamey Carroll (5).

Caught Stealing:

- Austin Jackson (2); Tony Gwynn Jr. (3); Sean Rodriguez (2); Nate Schierholtz (3); Eli Whiteside (2); Carlos Lee (sigh....) (3); Orlando Hudson (1); Mike Cameron (1); Brett Gardner (5); Justin Upton (3).

Home Runs:

- Matt Wieters (6); Adam Dunn (17); Josh Willingham (13); Russell Branyan (10); Jose Bautista 2 (19,20); Felipe Lopez (9); Matt Holliday (11); Colby Rasmus (14); Yadier Molina (3); Brennan Boesch (11); Michael Young (9); Josh Hamilton (17); Julio Borbon (2); Rickie Weeks (11); Casey McGehee (12); Martin Prado (7); Brian McCann (8); Carlos Quentin (9); Alex Rodriguez (9); Coco Crisp (1); Matt Kemp (12); Bobby Abreu (8); Franklin Gutierrez (6).
