Francoeur posted an unremarkable in 2016, as his 0.2 WAR signified that he almost exactly fit the bill of a replacement-level player. However, his 2016 season was actually an improvement from 2015, as he was able to increase both his on-base and slugging percentage. In 2016, the 32-year-old slashed .254/.297/.378 to go along with seven home runs and 34 RBI in 31 plate appearances. While Francoeur was able to raise his abysmal 2015 walk rate of 3.8 percent to 6.0 percent in 2016, it still was nothing to write home about. Additionally, the Miami outfielder's .333 BABIP was the highest since his rookie year, which would provide significant reason to believe his numbers will regress at least slightly in 2017. Francoeur is currently a free agent, but has a good chance to find a role as a fourth outfielder and replacement-level bat in 2017. The question will be whether he can get on base enough despite his reputation as a free-swinger who walks very rarely.
