IDP Analysis: Week 3 Matchups

This article is part of our IDP Analysis series.

With rosters of all shapes and sizes, IDP advice can be a bit tricky, so the purpose of this article is to point out players whose values are elevated for the upcoming week. Some of these players will be superstars, while others will be found on many waiver wires. We'll look at team positional groupings, based on the potential for a favorable game script. Whether you're streaming IDPs each week or have a stocked roster, this "one size fits all" approach hopefully will help most everyone find a weekly edge.

Linebackers

Titans (at Jaguars) – Players with elevated value: Rashaan Evans, Jayon Brown and Harold Landry.

In what should be a divisional slugfest, both teams should be able to get what they really want, which is to run the football as often as possible. Playing at home, this could be a game in which the Jaguars get a lead and let Leonard Fournette be their battering ram, as they try to run out the clock, making it a great day to fire up your Titans' LBs.

Dolphins (at Cowboys) – Players with elevated value: Raekwon McMillan, Jerome Baker, Sam Eguavoen and Charles Harris (questionable).

There's no doubt that Dallas will be able to rip off the Miami defense any way they want. But in a game they should have in hand by halftime, they'll likely look to shorten the game by pounding the rock mercilessly behind their great OL. Although they'll be very tired at the

There's no doubt that Dallas will be able to rip off the Miami defense any way they want. But in a game they should have in hand by halftime, they'll likely look to shorten the game by pounding the rock mercilessly behind their great OL. Although they'll be very tired at the end of this game, the Miami LBs could have a very busy afternoon.

Raiders (at Vikings) – Players with elevated value: Vontaze Burfict, Tahir Whitehead and Nicholas Morrow.

Since last year, we know that coach Mike Zimmer would prefer to have his QB hand the ball off all day. Playing at home against an inferior opponent, they'll likely get their wish, which will lead to a plethora of rushing attempts by Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison. It's definitely looking like a day in which the Raiders' LB will pile up tackles.

Pass Rushers

Chiefs (vs. Ravens) – Players with elevated value: Chris Jones, Frank Clark and Alex Okafor.

Although there are a lot of ways this game can play out, the Ravens are thin at CB and they've had a lot of turnover in their front seven from last year, which should help the Chiefs run out to a sizable lead at home. And even though Lamar Jackson is quite the runner, the Chiefs have some great pass rushers and they should get their share of sacks.

Bears (at Washington) – Players with elevated value: Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks and Leonard Floyd.

Even at home, the lack of a quality offensive line will be a problem for Washington, when facing Khalil Mack and company. Look for Washington to be in far too many obvious passing downs, and the Bears' pass rushers will be like sharks sensing blood. It should be a very long day for Case Keenum.

Cowboys (vs. Dolphins) – Players with elevated value: DeMarcus Lawrence, Tyrone Crawford, Antwaun Woods and Maliek Collins.

Although it's possible the Cowboys shorten the game by running the football all day, it's likely the Dolphins will be in a big hole early. Not only will Miami have to throw often, but with the Dallas CBs fully capable of shutting down the WRs, the pass rush could have an amazing day on their home field.

Defensive Backs

Giants (at Buccaneers) – Players with elevated value: Deandre Baker, Janoris Jenkins, Antonio Hamilton and Antoine Bethea.

After the Buccaneers passing game came out with a pair of underwhelming performances, expect them to try to get things straightened out against one of the worst pass defenses in the league. This clearly should lead to the New York DBs chasing down Tampa Bay WRs for most of the day.

Ravens (at Chiefs) – Players with elevated value: Marlon Humphrey, Jimmy Smith (questionable), Brandon Carr and Earl Thomas.

The Ravens aren't an easy team to run the football against, but no problem there – Patrick Mahomes will be more than agreeable to throw the football against this depleted secondary. Expect it to be a day the Baltimore DBs find themselves running after receivers for most of the afternoon.

Panthers (at Cardinals) – Players with elevated value: Donte Jackson, James Bradberry, Ross Cockrell and Tre Boston.

Going into their third week of running the Air Raid offense, the Cards will be back at home with a bit of experience under their belts. They should continue to push the pace of the offense while also moving the chains with some consistency to extend drives. That should keep the Panthers' DBs with a steady diet of work and solid tackle numbers to show for it.
