Make some room King Felix (Hernandez), you may have some competition and no, it's not Erik Bedard. Michael Pineda is throwing fantastic this season and made no exception of the Athetics tonight, throwing six-score-less, allowing only five hits while striking out as many. After that, only Jamey Wright surrendered two hits to the A's, making journeyman, utility-man, Adam Kennedy, the big-winner tonight, scoring the game-winning run as well as driving in two runs.

Moving M'sAdam Kennedy, hitting .333 this season, is now 14-40 and helping Seattle stay afloat in the West. Milton Bradley left in the third inning with back spasms Justin Smoak (bereavement) is expected back on Tuesday, so feel free to sit him with confidence.

Slightly Red After sitting yesterday, Brandon Phillips was back to his productive ways, going 2-5, RBI, R and 3 LOB Miguel Cairo went 2-3 with one BB and 2 LOB Ramon Hernandez went 0-3 and left five on base.

Absolutely one of the best match-ups of young arms this season, this game proved to a mood-maker.

You don't want to ever lose a game as a starting pitcher, but when you're facing a team like the Phillies, even Richard (7.1 IP, 6 H, 2 ER) has to wake up with half a smirk tomorrow. Problem is, Hamels will wake up with an entire smile having gone eight innings, allowing only four hits, no runs and striking out eight. Truthfully, it's Ryan Howard (2-4) who will wake up with the biggest smile, having legged out his first triple since July 24th last season to produce the games only two runs in the third.

Brewers 14 Astros 7

It only cost the Brewers $105 million dollars, but one home run later they were officially one game better than .500 ball. Truth be told, the 6-9 Ryan Braun and Carlos Gomez managed to beat up the Astros pitching staff just about enough alone to send the Astros back to the hotel with their tail between their legs. That and the solid seven Gallardo (4 ER, 8 H, 7 K's, 1 BB) threw left the Texas team with no chance.

Brayan Pena (2) After the Rangers handed Jeff Francouer (1-3, RBI) and Matt Treanor their A.L. Championship rings, they then handed them one in the loss column. For Jeff Francis (5 ER, 9 H, 4 IP), it was almost like being in Denver again, a few mistakes were never in doubt, and the slumping Texas Rangers we're back in the groove. As for young Rangers lefty, Derek Holland, it wasn't pretty, but seven innings and five earned runs later and Holland had more wins in the first full month this season than he had before September 8th last season.

An entertaining match-up of arms, that's what happened in Queens, NY tonight. Who got the better of the duel? Mike Pelfrey (1 ER), who notched his first win of the season, lasted seven innings, striking out four, walking two and scattering only five hits. Former Angels SP, Joe Saunders was nearly as good, allowing only two hits, walking three and striking out four himself. Jason Isringhausen (1.93) continues his plan as back-up plan to K-Rod, has only only one hit and one ER in 4.2 innings pitched.

If you scan the game-summary, you'll be lead to believe the Marlins spotted the Rockies an early one-run lead. What you won't realize, it was everyone BUT Marlins right-handed hurler Anibal Sanchez who gave up the lead. Already with one no-hitter (2005) to his credit as a rookie, Sanchez lost his bid for a second no-no in the ninth to a broken bat single by Dexter Fowler. Considering not a run was scored after the third inning, this was the only juicy action to be caught on this Friday night in Miami.

Blue Jays 6 Rays 4

It's a starting pitcher's idea of a waste of time. Throw seven quality innings, only to end up with a no-decision and a team-loss when the other team's utility-man spoils yet another solid outing. Blue-chipper, Jeremy Hellickson (7 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 6 K's) had his first official quality start of the season, only to be disappointed. Sam Fuld (.366 avg) is not just getting it done out in the field, Fuld has recorded a multi-hit game (four twice) in seven of his 18 games this season. Fuld, hitting lead-off, not only went 3-5, but jacked two stolen bases as well. As always, the unknown was outdone by another as Blue Jays utility infielder, John McDonald, hit a two-run homer to decide the game.

After a 54-home-run season last year, the last thing Jose Bautista should be doing is batting with a chip on his shoulder. That's exactly what the three-hole hitter is doing, going 3-5 again tonight, only a single shy of the cycle. Bautista has now hit safely in nine of his last ten games. Marc Rzepczynski (0.1 IP) may have gotten the win, but it was the one-hit allowed pitching of Jason Frasor (1 IP), Jon Rauch (1 IP) and Shawn Camp (1.2) who kept Toronto in this ballgame.

You've already been advised of Justin Verlander's three mistakes. The White Sox could only muster three runs on four hits. Verlander struck out eight and did not walk a soul in seven strong innings. As for the Tigers, they manged eight hits on Buehrle (6 ER) who didnt make it out of the sixth inning. The Magglio Ordonez, every other game experiment continues. Mags left two on base, went 1-5 and is hitting .184 this season.

Outside of Kosuke Fukudome, who was the lone bright spot for the Cubs, Chad Billingsley had good command, scattering seven hits and two runs (one earned) over 6.1 IP. As for Cubs pitching, right-hander Casey Coleman (4 BB, 4 K?s) was all over the place, lasting only 2 and 2/3 of an inning, allowing six runs on six hits. Of the Dodgers starting lineup only, LF Jerry Sands, went hitless for the day. Back up catcher, A.J. Ellis went 2-4, 2 RBI?s while Juan Uribe stole the show, going 2-4 with 4 RBI?s. Kenley Jansen struck out four of the five batters he faced, lowering his season ERA to 9.58 Fukudome (.375) again proving (7-18) his worth as a lead off hitter has hit in eight of his last nine games and currently holds a six-game hitting streak.
