Closer Watch

New York Mets – Newly acquired Tyler Clippard threw a scoreless ninth Tuesday with a four-run lead and a non-save situation. It appears Jeurys Familia will indeed hold on to the closer's job.

Philadelphia – With Jonathan Papelbon traded to the Nationals, Ken Giles stepped in as the closer and converted Tuesday's save, allowing one hit in a scoreless inning.

Washington – The acquisition of Jonathan Papelbon shakes things up in Washington. Papelbon will serve as the closer, while Drew Storen becomes the setup man.

Recommended Pickup

Arodys Vizcaino, P, ATL and David Aardsma, P, ATL – So you were behind the eight ball on Ken Giles turning into the Phillies' closer following the Jonathan Papelbon trade? The ascension of Giles could be seen a mile away. In Atlanta, the Braves have lost Jason Grilli for the season and Jim Johnson stepped in. But Johnson is on the trading block and several teams figure to be vying for his services. That means either Vizcaino or Aardsma is set to step in. Both players – Vizcaino (1.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP in 9 IP) and Aardsma (2.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP in 18 IP) have been good in limited action this season and both are owned in very few leagues.

Other Recent Recommendations:Rusney Castillo, Ryan Zimmerman, Mike Leake, Michael Conforto, Jose Iglesias, Jake McGee
