Aardsma battled a groin injury in 2014 and did not see any major league action for the Cardinals. He pitched 35 innings for Memphis, the Cardinals' Triple-A affiliate, totaling 11 saves while posting a 1.29 ERA and a 1.057 WHIP. Now 33, Aardsma has struggled to return to the pitcher that he was in Seattle when he saved 69 games across two seasons in 2009 and 2010. If he latches on with another club, it will likely be a low-risk signing where he will have to earn a roster spot during spring training.
