Scheduled against Gooden
Turman will compete against Jared Gooden in a welterweight fight at UFC Austin on Dec. 2, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Turman will give it another go at welterweight despite losing his class debut to Randy Brown at UFC on ABC 5. Gooden missed the welterweight limit for his previous fight and still ultimately lost to Carlston Harris.

Falls in welterweight debut
Turman lost to Randy Brown via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ABC 5 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida.
ANALYSIS
Having spent his entire UFC run at middleweight up to this point, Turman dropped down to 170 pounds to face Brown, with the idea being he could hopefully use his size to dominate smaller opponents. That's fine, in theory, except for the fact he was going up against an opponent here that would be a big 185-pounder. Turman spent the vast majority of the first ten minutes being out-muscled by Brown in tight. The rounds were close, but Turman gave up a takedown late in each frame, providing a poor visual for the judges. He managed to create some separation and do some damage on the feet in Round 3, but the fight was already over. Expect the Brazilian to remain at welterweight for the foreseeable future.

Will fight Brown
Turman will take on Randy Brown in a welterweight match at a UFC event in Jacksonville on June 24, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Turman, just like his opponent Brown, is coming off a loss in his last UFC fight. The 26-year old fighter loss via unanimous decision to Andre Petrowski back in November. Now, his opponent has age on him but not necessarily experience; Turman's pro MMA record is 18-6 while Brown's checks in at 16-5.

Withers late in loss
Turman lost to Andre Petroski via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 281 on Saturday in New York.
ANALYSIS
Turman clearly had a game plan in this one, using his jab and ripping body shots to get the muscle-bound wrestler tired. Petroski switched into high gear during the second half of the contest, however, employing a high-paced wrestling attack to neutralize the BJJ black belt and outpace him in scrambles on the ground. Turman's boxing and jiu-jitsu make him a formidable test for any opponent, as not many in this division will be able to get the better of him on the ground. Turman falls to 18-6-0 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Set for November fight
Turman (undisclosed) will take on Andre Petroski in a middleweight bout at UFC 281 on Nov. 12, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Turman was scheduled to fight Julian Marquez in mid-June but was scratched for an unspecified reason. However, he should be ready to return by November. Turman most recently defeated Misha Cirkunov via submission (armbar) in late February, and he's now won back-to-back fights. Petroski is perfect over his first three fights under the UFC banner, most recently defeating Nick Maximov via submission (Anaconda Choke) at UFC on ESPN 36 in mid-May. The two fighters are even in height, but Petroski has an advantage in reach.
