Fighting heavier opponent
Petroski will fight Dylan Budka in a catchweight fight at UFC Vegas 97 on Saturday, MMA Junkie reports.
ANALYSIS
Budka missed the middleweight limit by 2.5 pounds, resulting in Petroski fighting a heavier opponent Saturday. Either way, Petroski will look to build up a winning streak after defeating Josh Fremd not even multiple months ago.

Leans on wrestling in victory
Petroski defeated Josh Fremd via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.
ANALYSIS
Petroski bounced back well from his back-to-back knockout defeats to Jacob Malkoun and Michel Pereira. Common wisdom suggested Petroski, who has questionable cardio under the best of circumstances, would really struggle in the altitude of Denver, but he spent 12:50 of the 15-minute bout in top position, making the cardio concerns mute. Petroski landed one takedown in each round and had no less than four minutes worth of control time in each frame. You're going to win a lot of fights that way. Petroski's next challenge will be to put together a solid effort his next time out.

Scheduled for Denver
Petroski will fight Josh Fremd in a middleweight match at UFC Denver on Jul. 13, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Petroski will look to break his current losing streak, coming off back-to-back knockouts from first Michel Pereira and more recently Jacob Malkoun. The 32-year-old American holds a 5-2 UFC record, and will take on Fremd who hasn't fought since a loss to Roman Kopylov in September of 2023.

Second straight knockout loss
Petroski lost to Jacob Malkoun via TKO (strikes) at 0:39 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlantic City.
ANALYSIS
Well, that's a new one. With the crowd firmly behind him, Petroski was doing very well as an underdog, winning Round 1. Yet, he pushed forward for a takedown early in Round 2 and appeared to either knock himself out or hurt his neck on the attempt. Malkoun took full advantage, firing off a kick to the body which forced the immediate stoppage. It's a result Andre simply couldn't afford on the heels of a 66-second knockout loss to Michel Pereira last October. He needs a victory his next time out if he hopes to extend his time with the company.
