Pereira has been on a tear in 2024, beating Michal Oleksiejczuk and Ihor Potieria both by submission to amass to an eight match win streak. The Brazilian middleweight will fight Hernandez, who has utilized a submission in four of his six UFC wins, so the matchup could very well be decided on the ground.

Pereira defeated Ihor Potieria via submission (guillotine choke) at 0:54 of Round 1 at UFC 301 on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He dropped Potieria with a jab before doing a crazy backflip on top of him and putting Ihor to sleep with a guillotine choke. All of which happened in the first 54 seconds of the fight, and the end result was one of four $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses awarded on the evening. Michel has won eight straight including the last three via stoppage. He looks like a different man at 185 pounds. It's worth noting that Pereira was due to fight Stephen Thompson at UFC 291 last July and missed weight, forcing the cancellation. Perhaps the company will look to re-book those two at some point down the line.
