Opponent injury leads to win
MiddleweightUFC
October 5, 2024
Dolidze defeated Kevin Holland via TKO (injury) at 5:00 of Round 1 at UFC 307 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
It goes into the record book as a knockout win for Dolidze. Yes, a Holland rib injury forced the stoppage, but Roman was in full control for as long as the fight lasted. He scored an easy takedown early on and kept Holland pinned to the mat most of the opening frame. Kevin appeared to get injured in a transition attempt, and Dolidze ended up in mount as a result. He wasn't able to get the stoppage before the frame closed, but it ended up not mattering, as Holland could not continue. The 36-year-old Georgian has now won back-to-back fights in a span of just over three months on the heels of a brief two-fight losing streak.

Will take on Holland
MiddleweightUFC
August 16, 2024
Dolidze will take on Kevin Holland in a middleweight bout at UFC 307 in Salt Lake City on Oct. 5, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dolidze is coming off a win over Anthony Smith via unanimous decision in June. That pushed his UFC record to 7-3-0, and he'll have the chance to seek win number eight against Holland. Holland was originally slated to face Chris Curtis, but that bout was cancelled and Dolidze will serve as his replacement.
Cruises past Anthony Smith

June 29, 2024
Dolidze defeated Anthony Smith via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC 303 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Accepting this fight almost exactly a week ago, Dolidze did more than enough to win, even if it was far from an impressive performance. Roman did a nice job working over Smith's lead leg with kicks and then ended up on top after the latter slipped early in Round 2. That led to the most damaging blows of the bout, but nothing that came close to resulting in referee Marc Goddard stepping in. Instead, the fight went the distance, and Dolidze took a decision. This fight was contested at light heavyweight, but it was mentioned on the broadcast that the UFC was targeting a middleweight fight between Dolidze and Caio Borralho for later this summer, so perhaps that fight will still take place. Roman didn't absorb much damage here and is likely to be healthy enough to compete then.

He will move up to light heavyweight for the event and take on a former challenger for the UFC's championship in that division. Dolidze is looking for his first win since 2022, going 0-2 with multiple decision defeats from then on.

Needs new opponent

Dolidze is no longer fighting Anthony Hernandez at UFC 302, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez has a torn ligament in his left hand, which will prevent him from fighting at UFC 302. Fortunately for Dolidze, the UFC has more than a month before that event, giving the promotion enough time to find him a suitable replacement for the pay-per-view.
