Lasts 20 seconds in Louisville
MiddleweightUFC
June 8, 2024
Marquez lost to Zachary Reese via TKO (strikes) at 0:20 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.
ANALYSIS
On the sidelines for the past 15 months, Marquez finally got a chance to get back in the Octagon and lasted all of 20 seconds. He was clipped with a body kick by Reese before getting floored with an uppercut. Referee Dan Miragliotta was on the scene and stopped the fight immediately. Marquez didn't put up much of a complaint. Julian won three of his first four UFC bouts, but it's been all downhill since. He's now lost three straight and is without a victory dating back to April 2021. His roster spot would appear to be most definitely in jeopardy.

Marquez is slated to take on Zach Reese at a UFC event on June 8, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Although he holds a 3-3 record with the company, Marquez is coming off back-to-back losses against Gregory Rodrigues and Marc-Andre Barriault. Both of his defeats came via TKO. The 33-year-old will look to bounce back against Reese, who most recently lost his debut fight to Cody Brundage.

Marquez lost to Marc-Andre Barriault via TKO (punches) at 4:12 of Round 2 at UFC 285 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This was a crushing defeat for Marquez in what some were viewing as a pick 'em fight. Julian was the more active man in the opening round and won the frame as a result. He attempted 107 total strikes in the first five minutes compared to just 80 from Barriault. Yet, as soon as Round 2 began, the momentum swung. Barriault emptied the gas tank, and Marquez had zero answer. Julian displayed his trademark toughness and lasted far longer than any mere mortal typically would, but referee Mark Smith had finally seen enough and pulled the plug. Marquez has now suffered back-to-back knockout defeats (Barriault, Gregory Rodrigues) on the heels of back-to-back submission victories (Sam Alvey, Maki Pitolo).

Marquez has been removed from the card at the UFC event this Saturday, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
After Deron Winn pulled out following suffering a concussion, UFC officials were left with just over 48 hours to find a replacement for Marquez. They were unable to do so and now Marquez will have to wait until 2023 to fight again. They could potentially rebook Winn in a couple months.

Marquez's opponent, Deron Winn, was forced to withdraw from their fight at the UFC event this Saturday, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Winn fell down a flight of stairs and sustained a concussion. The UFC has not yet announced if they plan to find a replacement on 48-hours notice or just look to rebook this bout in early 2023. Marquez was last in the Octagon on June 18 when he fell to Gregory Rodrigues.
