Closer Watch
Rockies -- With Adam Ottavino seemingly headed for Tommy John surgery, the Rockies' season-long closing job is now John Axford's to lose. Axford's collected saves in all three of his chances and hasn't given up a run yet, but he'll need to stay sharp to hold off fellow veteran Rafael Betancourt, who's been terrific in his own right. That means Axford will need to keep a tight rein on his control, as extra baserunners will come back to kill you in Colorado.
Blue Jays -- Brett Cecil collected his second save of the year Monday, needing just 10 pitches to cruise through a perfect ninth against the Yankees. The longer he goes without struggling, the longer Cecil's leash will be, but his inconsistent results means that Roberto Osuna should still be on fantasy owners' radar.
Nationals -- Tanner Roark swooped in for an unexpected save Monday – he worked around a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning – but it was only because Drew Storen had pitched Saturday and Sunday. There's no changing of the guard happening here, but the potential for more saves down the line (not to mention the upside of a starting gig) gives Roark added value.
Cardinals -- Seth Maness gave up a solo homer en route to his second save of the season Monday, but this is a near-twin of the Nats' situation, as Trevor Rosenthal had pitched in three straight games. In the event of a Rosenthal injury, there would presumably be a closing platoon between Maness and southpaw Kevin Siegrist. But Rosenthal's healthy and has been one of the top closers in the game this year.

Recommended Pickup
Trevor Plouffe, 3B, MIN -- It looks like the good version of Plouffe is back again, as the 29-year-old has emerged from a slow start into one of the game's hottest hitters over the last couple weeks or so. In his last 16 games, Plouffe has gone 22-for-64 (.344) with four of his five homers and a respectable 7:13 BB:K. Third base has been a mixed bag for fantasy purposes so far this year, with precious few at the position offering well-rounded production, so Plouffe certainly has some mixed-league relevance to owners dealing with injury or ineffectiveness at the hot corner.
