ANALYSIS
Holt spent the entire 2016 season in the big leagues with Cincinnati, although he was outrighted upon the season's conclusion after batting .235 in his limited opportunities. Between this and the more established options the Dodgers have in place across the outfield, the 27-year-old seems destined for an organizational depth role.

2015
The fact that Holt stuck on the major league roster for the entire season is less a product of his own performance and more a result of the Reds' woes with their other outfielders. The 27-year-old batted just .235 on the season, and although an 11.1 percent walk rate brought his on-base percentage to a respectable level, his putrid .296 slugging percentage and 23.1 percent strikeout rate limited his success in the sparse opportunities that he was afforded. Even his running game (historically a stronger aspect of his game) was cut down, as he was just 4-for-7 on stolen base opportunities. Better days don't seem to be on the horizon, either. Holt latched on with the Dodgers on a minor league pact over the offseason, and given their outfield depth in the majors and the minors, it seems like Holt's role in 2017 will be that of an organizational depth piece.
Holt made his big league debut last season, his fifth as a member of the Indians' organization after being selected by the club as a 10th-round draft pick in 2010. With the promotion, he appeared to be overmatched during his limited time in the big leagues, fanning in 32.9% of his plate appearances while getting on base at a mere .307 clip. Holt is likely headed to Triple-A for all of 2015, where he will continue to hone his on-base skills with the hope of eventually using his legs to provide situational value in Cleveland again down the road. After stealing 33 bases across three levels last season, Holt may have to wait until September roster expansion to see another opportunity with the Tribe.
