Closer Watch

SF - Javier Lopez earned his first save of the season against the Cubs on Friday due to the injury of Santiago Casilla. With Brian Wilson out for the season from Tommy John surgery, Casilla has been serving as the closer, but just got injured, so Lopez and Sergio Romo should serve as the teams closers for now.

Recommended Pickup

Other Recent Recommendations:

Vin Mazzaro, SP, KC - Let's face it. Just about anyone pitching against the Athletics right now should garner some serious fantasy consideration, especially for a spot start. In Mazzaro's last big league start on May 15 he went five innings, gave up three earned runs, recorded two strikeouts, with a walk, and got his first win of the year against a very potent Rangers lineup. Nobody in the fantasy world was beating themselves up over not picking Mazzaro up for that spot start, because who really expected him to pick up the win, and that solitary fantasy positive doesn't justify the hit to the ERA and poor strikeout performance. On the other hand, that one walk is a sign of how Mazzaro's command has been spot on lately. At all levels, in the month of May, the New Jersey native has only walked four batters in his 25 innings pitched. If Mazzaro's command continues into the month of June then expect the Athletics to struggle to find themselves on the base paths against the Royals, in what should be the makings of a decent spot start for those in need.
