Signs minor league contract with Nationals
Falu signed a minor league contract with the Nationals.
ANALYSIS
Falu spent 2016 in the Royals system with Triple-A Omaha, where he slashed .267/.297/.404 in 172 plate appearances over 46 games. He'll be 34 in June and has not appeared in the big leagues since 2014, when he saw time in Milwaukee and San Diego. Don't expect him to earn any time in the majors in 2017 either, as the Nationals have strong depth at second base, Falu's primary position.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2014
2013
Falu spent his fifth full season at the Triple-A level and posted one of his more disappointing statistical seasons as he hit just .256 with two home runs and 31 RBI over 568 plate appearances. He did manage to steal 20 bases for a third year in row, but his upside doesn't seem to get much better than that. His plate discipline, his defense and his versatility in the infield are what keep him around, but without a legitimate job opportunity, he seems destined to stay on the shuttle between Triple-A and the majors with nothing more than the potential for part-time play. Unsuccessful in his bid to make the Royals, Falu signed a minor league deal with the Brewers, which also comes with an invite to spring training. He'll look to make the team as a utility player, but he's more than likely to spend most of his time in the minors again.
