Closer Watch
Red Sox -- Andrew Bailey made his first appearance for Boston on August 14 when he struck out one and walked another against Baltimore. On Friday, ten days after returning to the bigs, Bailey finally got his first save for Boston against Kansas City by pitching a perfect one-and-one-third innings. The man that was supposed to start the season as Jonathan Papelbon's replacement should now be the man when it comes to save opportunities for Boston.

Brewers -- John Axford was given a three-run lead Friday against Pittsburgh to start the ninth inning, but after giving up two runs off two hits and two walks, Kam Loe was called in to shut down the rally. Loe did exactly that by stricking out the Gabby Sanchez to give Milwaukee a 6-5 win. The save was Loe's second of the season, but he shouldn't be necessarily considered as the next in line to Axford's closing role because the team still has Frank Rodriguez and Jim Henderson as possible replacements, who may have gotten the save opportunity over Loe if they hadn't already pitched Friday.

Angels -- After starting nine games for the Angels in 2012 Garrett Richards picked up his first MLB save Friday against the Tigers. With a bullpen that had been overworked Richards was called upon to record the last two outs in a one-run game, and made it look easy by recording two strikeouts on only seven pitches. Even though Richards was dominant on Friday, this should only be noted as a spot save, but if given the opportunity again, he has proven that he has what it takes to finish a game in a pressure situation.

Astros -- Wilton Lopez recorded his second save of the season Friday by recording the last four outs for Houston against New York at Citi Field. It seems that Rodriguez is Houston's closer, but that really doesn't mean much as the team doesn't really have that many save opportunities. The last Houston pitcher that wasn't Lopez to record a save was Brett Myers on July 16, and since then Lopez has only notched one save not including the one Friday against New York.

Recommended Pickup

Other Recent Recommendations:
John Mayberry, 1B/OF, PHI -- In a seven game stretch from August 18-24 Mayberry smashed two home runs, six RBIs, and six runs, while going collecting a .375 batting average in 24 at-bats. Mayberry was selected in the first round of the 2005 draft by the Rangers, but has seen limited time at the MLB level until this year after Philadelphia sent Shane Victorino to Los Angeles and Hunter Pence to San Francisco. Mayberry is eligible in most fantasy leagues at left field, center field, and even first base, meaning that he could prove to be a valuable member of certain fantasy team's benches that are in need of a little bit of flexibility. If Mayberry is able to continue to show the same power that he has in the past week then he may start to be in contention for your starting lineup during this season's stretch run.

Other recent recommendations: Pedro Ciriaco, Tyler Skaggs, Wilin Rosario, Brett Anderson, and Tyler Colvin
