Closer Watch
Boston Red Sox – It's worth mentioning that closer Koji Uehara gave up a run in one inning pitched on Wednesday. He did manage to pick up the win in a non-save situation, but the reason I bring Uehara up is that his save opportunities have been lacking since the end of May. During that time, Uehara has only managed to lock down four saves over a 20-day stretch. This is an indication of the Red Sox' club as a whole and their struggles to gain wins this season. You're obviously holding tight with Uehara if you own him, but you should lower your expectations a bit – he's not a 35-save guy.

Jake Arrieta, SP, CHC – Do you remember when Arrieta was a highly-rated prospect within the Baltimore Orioles system? I do. It's crazy how things just don't work out sometimes early on in a player's career with one team, but they do with another team down the line. Arrieta isn't a highly-touted prospect anymore, but rather a 28-year old veteran who is only realizing his potential now. I'm not saying that Arrieta is the next Clayton Kershaw (ahem), but the Cubs' starter does provide solid value potential down the line. Over his last two starts, Arrieta has only given up one earned run over 14 IP while striking out 20 batters. Yes, you read correctly - 20 batters. Snag Arrieta while you can, just don't expect dominant numbers. He's well worth owning as we head toward the second half of the season, helping with your ratios, strikeouts and even picking up some wins here and there.
