Rest-of-Season Projections
Campana was assigned to minor league camp Monday.
ANALYSIS
Campana missed all of 2015 with a torn ACL, which prompted the White Sox to release him prior to the season. The Nats signed Campana to a minor league deal last August, and the 29-year-old returned to baseball activities during the offseason. Campana figures to begin the year in Triple-A, the level at which he appeared in 100 games for the Angels and Diamondbacks organizations in 2014.

Campana was acquired from the Diamondbacks as an ancillary piece in the deal that brought pitcher Joe Thatcher to the Halos. He is well known for his ability to steal bases, having been caught just nine times in 66 career attempts, but the 28-year-old Campana offers little else from a fantasy perspective, as he has tallied a career .583 OPS, and hit just .187 in 44 games split between the Diamondbacks and Angels in 2014. Campana was outrighted off the Angels' 40-man roster in late October after being left off the postseason roster, but he was scooped up by the White Sox on a minor league deal in November. There is certainly room in baseball for players who can provide speed off the bench, but until he can provide something with the bat, Campana will be pressed to carve out more than the occasional stretch of regular playing time.
