Let go by Mariners
Bergman was released by the Mariners on Thursday, Triple-A Tacoma radio broadcaster Mike Curto reports.
ANALYSIS
Bergman struggled to a 9.57 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB in 26.1 innings (six starts, two relief appearances) with Tacoma before being cut loose by the Mariners. The 31-year-old will look to latch on elsewhere as organizational pitching depth.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

2015
Bergman entered the season in a swingman role for Colorado, but things went south fairly quickly. Despite posting a career-best 9.3 K/9 to start the season, Bergman could only muster a 5.89 ERA prior to straining his oblique in mid-May. The right-hander shuttled between Triple-A and the majors once he returned in July, but the results only got worse, as he gave up at least one run in all but four of his appearances on the season (three of which came before the injury). The 28-year-old exhibited exemplary control once again (2.2 BB/9), but that success was completely nullified by his horrific 2.6 HR/9. His FIP is nearly three runs lower than his ERA, which suggests bad luck probably played a part in how poor his overall numbers were, but he needs to keep the ball in the park if he wants to have find success in the Mariners' organization. He signed a minor league deal with Seattle in December.
