Pitching
Astros righty Gerrit Cole ($12,100) is the only truly dominant starter taking the mound, but owners who don't want to pay up for him at home against Texas will be able to play matchups at the pitcher position.
Rookie righty Aaron Civale ($8,500) has been a revelation for the Indians with a 1.93 ERA and 2.98 FIP through eight starts, and he couldn't ask for a better matchup here. He'll start at home against a Tigers team that averages the second-fewest runs (3.71) and most strikeouts (10.03) per game.
Jake Odorizzi ($9,300) of the Twins is another AL Central righty with a favorable matchup. The visiting White Sox sport the league's fifth-worst offense and strike out sixth most, while Odorizzi brings a 3.60 ERA, 3.55 FIP and 26.4 percent strikeout rate into this one.
Key Values/Chalk
The Twins and Indians are likely to provide plenty of run support for their starters, and the Cubs should put in a strong offensive performance as well, but there's value to be found outside of those three stackable lineups.
Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez ($3,900) has a wOBA over .400 against lefties, and he should keep building on that against Cubs southpaw Jon Lester.
Astros second baseman Jose Altuve ($4,300) is another guy who dominates left-handed pitching, bringing a wOBA over .450 in that split into this home date with Texas' Kolby Allard.
Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman ($3,900) is another chalk play, as the left-handed slugger will have the platoon advantage against Phillies righty Zach Eflin. Freeman has a .420 wOBA against righties, while Eflin's allowing a .356 mark to batters from the left side.
Stacks
Twins vs. White Sox (RHP Dylan Covey)
Luis Arraez (2B - $2,700), Eddie Rosario (OF - $3,200), Jorge Polanco (SS - $3,300)
Covey has been pulverized by left-handed batters to the tune of a .453 wOBA, which has been the main contributor to his 7.98 ERA. Arraez and Rosario are primed to take advantage of Covey's struggles in that split out of the leadoff and cleanup spots respectively, with the former sporting a .390 wOBA against righties. The switch-hitting Polanco prefers to bat from the left side, producing a .382 wOBA from there.
Indians vs. Tigers (RHP Spencer Turnbull)
Francisco Lindor (SS - $4,000), Carlos Santana (1B - $3,800), Roberto Perez (C - $2,800)
The Indians have already handed Turnbull five losses this season while collectively slashing .363/.416/.569 against him. Cleveland has a pair of switch-hitters ready to do more damage while also maintaining the platoon advantage against anyone Detroit brings out of the bullpen. Lindor has a .368 wOBA from the left side, while Santana has a .393 mark in that split at Progressive Field. Perez offers a cheaper alternative to Santana at the C/1B position, as the catcher has a .360 home wOBA in righty-on-righty matchups.
Cubs vs. Reds (RHP Tyler Mahle)
Kyle Schwarber (OF - $3,600), Jason Heyward (OF - $2,900), Ben Zobrist (OF - $2,700)
Left-handed hitters have a .374 wOBA against Mahle this season, and the Cubs have some strong options to throw at him from that side, even without first baseman Anthony Rizzo (ankle). Schwarber has a .381 wOBA against righties at Wrigley Field, while Heyward and the switch-hitting Zobrist are both hanging around .360 in that split. The latter also benefits from leading off, maximizing his plate appearances.
