Gets no help from judges in defeat
Altamirano lost to Felipe dos Santos via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
Altamirano and his backers are going to be furious with this decision, and rightfully so. You typically walk away with the judges' call when you land 9-of-11 takedown attempts and finish with a 40-37 edge in terms of significant strikes. Still, two judges felt it wasn't enough for Altamirano. The 33-year-old Texan has been wildly inconsistent throughout his UFC run, going 2-3 in five bouts. With back-to-back losses on his resume, Altamirano seems likely to need a victory his next time out in order to retain his roster spot.

Scheduled for 2024 fight
Altamirano will compete against Felipe dos Santos in a flyweight fight at the UFC's Feb. 24 event, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Altamirano has his first fight scheduled for 2024. In 2023, he went 1-1, with a win over Vinicius Salvador and a loss to Tim Elliott. Dos Santos logged one fight this year, a late-notice defeat at the hands of Manel Kape.

Routed by Tim Elliott
Altamirano lost to Tim Elliott via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 46 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Anyone stepping into the Octagon against Elliott is well aware they will be facing an opponent who is an excellent wrestler with elite cardio. Altamirano was unable to handle the pressure. He did the best he could to try to remain active off of his back in hopes of limiting Elliott's space from top position, but it's difficult to win a 15-minute decision when your opponent is credited with 11:13 worth of control time. A product of Dana White's Contender Series, the 32-year-old Texan falls to 2-2 over the course of his first four fights with the UFC.

Stepping in for Nascimento
Altamirano will face off against Tim Elliott at UFC Vegas 74 on June 3, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Altamirano has stepped in for Allan Nascimento after the 31-year-old fighter was forced to withdraw for undisclosed reasons. Altamirano, who most recently defeated Vinicius Salvador in March, will look to win his third consecutive fight against Tim Elliott.
