ANALYSIS
Salvador is looking to bounce back after losing his previous two UFC battles against C.J. Vergara and Victor Altamirano. Salvador showed glimpses of his quality in Dana White's Contender Series, but he hasn't been able to translate that to the UFC level yet. Expect Salvador to try to bounce back in this one.

Drops decision after weight miss
Salvador lost to C.J. Vergara via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 291 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
It's been a disastrous, potentially career-altering last 36 hours for Salvador. He missed weight by 2.5 pounds Friday morning, had to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Vergara in order for the fight to proceed, and still lost. All three judges gave Salvador Round 1, but his output and effectiveness dropped the rest of the way. It's certainly fair to wonder if this was related to the poor weight cut. A product of Dana White's Contender Series, Salvador has now lost each of his first two fights with the UFC, and it's fair to wonder if the company will cut bait following the issues on the scale.

Gets another shot in Utah
Salvador will take on C.J. Vergara in a flyweight matchup at UFC 291 on July 29 in Salt Lake City, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Salvador earned his UFC opportunity via Dana White's Contender Series but dropped his UFC debut to Victor Altamirano in March in a fight he was out-landed 62-to-47 and taken down three times. His next opportunity will be against a fellow DWCS alumni in Vergara, who is 2-2 in official UFC bouts and coming off a FOTN victory over Daniel Lacerda in March. Salvador will enter with slight height and reach advantages.

Drops decision in UFC debut
Salvador lost to Victor Altamirano via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC on ESPN 43 on Saturday in San Antonio.
ANALYSIS
Making his official UFC debut on the heels of a second-round knockout win on Dana White's Contender Series last August, Salvador spent virtually the entire fight fending off takedown attempts from Altamirano. On the whole, he did a nice job, stuffing 19-of-22 tries, but the three that did connect were enough to cost Salvador the first and third frames, and ultimately, the fight. Just 26 years of age and having shown plenty of stopping power on the Brazilian regional scene, Salvador will undoubtedly get another chance with the company.
