Barez lost to Jafel Filho via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 3:26 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
Making his UFC debut in a pick 'em bout, Barez didn't show much. He gave up a takedown to Filho following a wild exchange of back-and-forth action on the feet, eventually allowing his opponent to easily improve his position and clamp on the arm-triangle choke that closed the show. Barez appeared on Dana White's Contender Series in October 2021, dropping a split decision. He'll be 35 years of age this coming December and has zero history of success against quality competition, so the upside here is very limited.

Barez (16-5-0) is scheduled to face Jafel Filho (14-3-0) in a flyweight bout July 22 at the UFC's event in London, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

The 34-year-old Barez will be making his UFC debut in London after most recently competing under the Ultimate Warrior Challenge banner. Filho, meanwhile, is set to make his second UFC appearance after losing to Muhammad Mokaev in his promotional debut at UFC 286 in March.
