ANALYSIS
Mullarkey is coming off a Round 1 defeat via TKO (punches) to Nasrat Haqparast at UFC Fight Night back in December. He's alternated wins and losses in his past four fights, and now sports a 5-5 record in the UFC, giving Mullarkey pressure to get a win in over Ruffy and not drop below the .500 mark.

Lasts 104 seconds in Vegas
Mullarkey lost to Nasrat Haqparast via TKO (punches) at 1:44 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Mullarkey's striking defense has always been well below-average, but to his credit, it typically takes plenty of blows to get him out of there. That wasn't the case here. One sweeping left hook found the mark, and Jamie was never able to recover. He appeared to be out on his feet before referee Keith Peterson finally realized and stepped in. Every Mullarkey fight is a hope he can land the one or two blows that drop him opponent before he gets dropped himself. That's a tough way to make a living, as evidenced by the fact he has alternated wins and losses in his past four bouts. There simply isn't much here.

Scheduled against Haqparast
Mullarkey will compete against Nasrat Haqparast in a lightweight fight at UFC Shanghai on Dec. 9, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Mullarkey will try to end his up-and-down 2023 on a high note. He began the year with a hometown win over Francisco Prado. But after a 180-day medical suspension, he was given a new opponent twice for UFC Vegas 74 and ultimately lost at the event to Muhammadjon Naimov. Combine that with Mullarkey's latest fight, a win he scraped over John Makdessi, there is still much to be desired from the Australian.

Barely gets past John Makdessi
Mullarkey defeated John Makdessi via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 293 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off a knockout loss to Muhammadjon Naimov this past June as a -500 favorite, Mullarkey got the job done here at -300, but he was fortunate two judges saw the fight for him, let alone all three. Mullarkey used his massive length advantage to damage Makdessi in the opening frame by landing plenty of low kicks, but his striking defense got progressively worse as the fight progressed. Makdessi began landing with more regularity, and Jamie struggled to consistently close the distance between the two. Nine fights into his UFC run, Mullarkey is sporting a 5-4 record. He's been quite good at times, and extremely underwhelming at others. Expect him to hover around the .500 mark moving forward.

ANALYSIS
Mullarkey is coming off a shock defeat to Muhammadjon Naimov back on June 3 via TKO, so he's not waiting long to get some redemption. 4-2 in his last six fights, Mullarkey should enter as the favorite as he seeks to get his contender status back on track.
