Suffers first UFC defeat
FeatherweightUFC
June 22, 2024
Naimov lost to Felipe Lima via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:15 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
ANALYSIS
The numbers in this fight were shockingly even prior to the finish. There's a real case to be made that Naimov was up two rounds, which makes the submission defeat all the more crushing from his perspective. Naimov got his back taken along the fence and found himself tapping out to the rear-naked choke moments later. This was the exact type of pick 'em fight Naimov couldn't afford to lose if he hopes of making any sort of run in the featherweight division. That said, he had won each of his first three UFC bouts, so his roster spot is plenty secure.

Scheduled against newcomer
FeatherweightUFC
June 17, 2024
Naimov is scheduled to compete against Felipe Lima at UFC Saudi Arabia on Saturday, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
The UFC recently signed Lima, making Naimov's next opponent a newcomer. He will not be an easy challenge though, entering Saudi Arabia on a 12-fight win streak with six finishes (four KO/TKOs and two submissions) and as the latest Oktagon MMA Bantamweight Champion.
Won't face Baghdasaryan
FeatherweightUFC
June 16, 2024
Naimov won't fight against Melsik Baghdasaryan (shoulder) in Saudi Arabia on June 22, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
This is devastating news for Naimov, who was expected to return to the octagon following his win over Erik Silva in Mexico City in February. Given there are only a few days left before the event, it wouldn't be shocking if Naimov is unable to find a replacement for this bout.
Takes opener in Mexico City
FeatherweightUFC
February 24, 2024
Naimov defeated Erik Silva via TKO (injury) at 0:44 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Mexico City.
ANALYSIS
There's not much to break down here from a technical standpoint. Naimov, entering as a -550 favorite, grabbed hold of Silva and dragged him to the mat, and in the process, the latter suffered some type of leg injury. The fight was over seconds later. Naimov pulled upsets of both Nathaniel Wood and Jamie Mullarkey in his first two UFC bouts. Little was expected of the 29-year-old considering he dropped a unanimous decision to Collin Anglin on Dana White's Contender Series back in September 2020. Naimov has won six straight since.
Mexico fight coming up
FeatherweightUFC
January 9, 2024
Naimov is scheduled to compete against Erik Silva in a featherweight fight at UFC Mexico on Feb. 24, according to Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Following two upset wins, Naimov will participate in what is expected to be a much more favorable matchup. At 36 years old and 11 fights into his MMA career, Silva is fighting for the first time since 2022 and trying to log his first win since signing with the UFC.
Second straight upset win
FeatherweightUFC
October 21, 2023
Naimov defeated Nathaniel Wood via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC 294 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Fresh off a massive upset of Jamie Mullarkey this past June, Naimov pulled off another here against Wood. That said, it didn't come easily. Naimov landed two significant low blows and had at least one noticeable fence grab that saved a takedown. He's beyond lucky he wasn't docked a point for his actions. He was also in all sorts of trouble in the closing moments of the fight and ended up being saved by the final bell. So while the end result looks great, there were some hiccups along the way. The 29-year-old Naimov has some work to do if he hopes to continue this run of early UFC success moving forward.
