Hot
John-Michael Liles (D) Colorado- The shifty Avalanche defenseman has started the season on a tear, as he has picked up a point in each game of the season and has 10 assists on the season.
Chris Stewart (F) Colorado- Stewart is tied with Liles for the team lead in scoring and has 4 goals and 4 assists during his last 5 games.
David Booth (F) Florida-Booth has tallied 3 goals in the first 6 games of the season and looks to be completely healthy once again after dealing with concussion problems all of last year.
Rene Bourque (F) Calgary- The young offensive talent has been on fire as of late and is leading the way for the Flames. He has 5 goals and 1 assist in his last two games, including a hat trick, and is fully recovered from the injury that slowed him down earlier.
The Entire Dallas Stars Top Line- The trio of Brad Richards, Loui Eriksson, and James Neal have meshed perfectly this year. Richards has 10 points, Neal has picked up 8 points, and Eriksson has 6 points so far on the young season.
Cold
Roberto Luongo (G) Vancouver- It may be a little harsh to put Luongo in the cold category but the fact is that he just has not looked himself so far this season. While he hasn't played terribly, his 1-3-2 record on the season is dramatically magnified by the fact that young Corey Schneider has been a brick wall this season. Luongo will be given every chance to lead this team deep into the playoffs, but it has to be a relief for Canucks fans to see Schneider waiting in the wings.
Recommended Pickup
Ryan Whitney (D) Edmonton- While ownership has jumped in a number of fantasy leagues for Whitney as of late, he may still be available if some of the other managers have been sleeping. The young defenseman showed a lot of promise coming up through the Pittsburgh Penguins' system but was unable to get comfortable or find his groove once he was traded to Anaheim. He finally looks comfortable again playing with an up and coming young Oilers team and has now picked up 4 assists in his past 3 games. It looks like it is a fun group to play with in Edmonton, and hopefully Whitney can take advantage of that all year.
Drew Stafford (F) Buffalo- Stafford has been picked by many fantasy experts to break out over the past few years but it hasn't all come to fruition quite yet. However, despite being owned in less than 35% of Yahoo! Fantasy Leagues Stafford already has 3 goals, 4 assists, and is plus-5 on the season so far. Pick him up and see if this is the year he puts it all together.
