ANALYSIS
The 31-year-old goaltender went 3-2 with a 3.19 GAA in this year's Calder Cup (AHL) playoffs. Sabourin hasn't appeared in an NHL game since 2008-09, but he may get a chance to back up Braden Holtby in Wednesday's Game 3 against the Rangers.

This player will have no fantasy value in 2013-14 and can be ignored in all formats.
Sabourin is a journeyman goaltender who will back up Braden Holtby in AHL Hershey this coming season.
A longtime veteran of the NHL and AHL, Sabourin will provide the three young goaltenders with some veteran presence and possibly some tricks of the trade. Sabourin will likely spend most of his time in the AHL and only see NHL action if injuries hit the netminders hard.
Sabourin faces a tough climb to unseat Tuukka Rask as the B's No. 2 goalie, but he does offer the team a decent insurance policy should anything happen to Rask or Tim Thomas.
Sabourin actually got first crack at taking over for the injured Marc-Andre Fleury last season but performed just so-so. Ty Conklin then took over and the rest is history. Well, Conklin has moved on, leaving Sabourin as the team's primary backup. Last year Sabourin went 10-9-1 with a 2.75 GAA and .904 save percentage. He's good for a game or two but the Penguins would be in trouble if they needed to depend on Sabourin for an extended period of time.
Unless the Penguins pick up another goaltender during training camp, Sabourin will likely enter the 2007-08 season as the backup to starting goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. Sabourin has come full circle since starting one game with Pittsburgh during the 2005-06 season when he gave up four goals on 14 shots before being pulled. Last year Sabourin performed admirably backing up Roberto Luongo in Vancouver, going 2-4 with a 2.63 GAA and .906 save percentage. He probably won't play more than that in Pittsburgh, either, with Fleury getting the nod on most nights.
Acquired via waivers by the Canucks to serve as Roberto Luongo's backup. He won't play enough to merit fantasy much value barring injury. Sabourin put up AHL statistics worthy of getting a chance to play in the NHL last year, and he did get that chance. Unfortunately, he fared miserably, surrendering four goals on 14 shots to Columbus. He was sent packing back to the minors and never heard from again. Perhaps the offseason and added experience will be enough to get his confidence back up. He's got the skill to play in the NHL and could find his way to the Pens' net once again if anything happens to injury-prone goalie Jocelyn Thibault. Sabourin went 30-14-4 with Wilkes-Barre in 2005 with a 2.26 GAA.
Sabourin is ranked fourth in the organization's depth chart. As a result, it's unlikely he'll start more than a game or two for the team in 2005-06. Sabourin went 27-14-3 in 2004-05, splitting time between the AHL and ECHL.
