Walker has seen very limited NHL action in the last few seasons, and with the Flyers brimming with young defenseman, it's unlikely he'll have any significant fantasy value.
Walker is unlikely to make much of a splash with the Flyers this year, playing just eight NHL games in his last two professional seasons. He may be called up to provide veteran presence during injuries, but his fantasy impact will be negligible.
The Flyers put Walker on waivers in January and he spent the rest of the season in the AHL. He'll get another shot at earning the spot back, but it's clear that Philly isn't wild about him and he'll have to play his way onto the roster by having a solid training camp.
Walker gives the Flyers depth along the blue line, but not much to fantasy owners. He's managed double-digit points just once in his career and has never cracked 100 PIMs.
Walker is, at best, a sixth defender who needs to prove he can consistently play mistake-free hockey, something he's never really done. If he does, he could deliver you a hundred PIMs this season. And that might have value in deep sin-bin leagues.
Walker spent the 2007-08 campaign as a depth defenseman for the Blues. The Blackhawks signed him to a one-year deal in July. He should be deployed in a similar fashion in the Windy City and holds limited fantasy value.
Walker spent most of last season subbing in for a number of injured Blues' defensemen. When everyone was healthy, Walker was the #7 or #8 d-man on the team and was a healthy scratch most nights. There's no reason to think that will change this season. Not a good candidate for your fantasy roster.
Injuries to Christian Backman and Eric Brewer allowed Walker to play in 54 games for the Blues last season, but he did nothing to distinguish himself offensively, posting just two assists over that span. This season, assuming all of his fellow d-men are healthy, along with the addition of Jay McKee, he will be hard pressed to secure a regular spot in the lineup. No need to waste a fantasy roster spot on him just yet.
He's strictly a defensive player, strictly.
