IDP Analysis: Campbell Stays Productive

IDP Analysis: Campbell Stays Productive

This article is part of our IDP Analysis series.

RISING

David Long, LB, Titans

Jayon Brown will be out for at least two more weeks. Long has been his direct replacement over the past four games, handling nearly every snap and producing 29 tackles (19 solo). The team hasn't provided a clear timeline for Brown, but fantasy managers can ride Long's wave until Brown is back to 100 percent.

Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Bills

We have yet to see Edmunds hit double-digit tackles this season despite him hitting that mark five times last year. However, he has piled up 23 stops over the past three contests, and he gets a prime matchup in Week 6. The Titans have shown no desire to pull back on Derrick Henry's workload, so Edmunds should have a busy evening on Monday Night Football.

Greg Rousseau, DE, Bills

Rousseau has registered 18 tackles (15 solo), three sacks and an interception through five games, and he may be the team's best pass rusher. He'll benefit from the Titans' run-heavy game script regardless. However, he'll also have a strong chance to tee off against the Titans' brutal offensive line that has let Ryan Tannehill get sacked a league-high 20 times so far.

De'Vondre Campbell, ILB, Packers

The Packers signed ILB Jaylon Smith, who was cut by the Cowboys earlier in the week. Smith's presence doesn't threaten Campbell because he can't cover players like Campbell does. Furthermore, Campbell's been an excellent all-around player, racking up 48 tackles (31 solo), three pass breakups

Furthermore, Campbell's been an excellent all-around player, racking up 48 tackles (31 solo), three pass breakups and two interceptions. He's a clear IDP starter as long as he's healthy.

Javon Hargrave, DT, Eagles

Hargrave refuses to slow down, as he's piled up 27 tackles (13 solo) and six sacks -- a half sack short of a career high -- through five games. This looks somewhat sustainable considering he piled up 60 tackles on 692 defensive snaps in 2019, and he's on track for roughly 700 defensive snaps this year.

Desmond King, CB, Texans

King has played more than 75 percent of the defensive snaps three times this season, and he has produced eight or more tackles each time. The 2017 fifth-round pick has seemingly jumped Vernon Hargreaves on the depth chart, so he has an opportunity to keep up these numbers moving forward. He's worth consideration in leagues that utilize a DB slot.

FALLING

Kenny Young, ILB, Rams

The Rams boasted two fantasy-viable inside linebackers last year with whoever was healthy among Kenny Young, Micah Kiser and Troy Reeder. This season, safeties Taylor Rapp and Jordan Fuller have been the surest tacklers, and Young has finished with five or fewer stops in three of the last four games. While he has posted two games with 10 tackles, you'd want more consistency from a starting LB in IDP formats.

Matthew Judon, OLB, Patriots

Judon posted another pair of sacks Sunday against Texans rookie QB Davis Mills, bringing his total for the season to 6.5 sacks. His placement in the falling column is because of a tough upcoming matchup against the Cowboys, as QB Dak Prescott has been dropped just nine times through five games. Judon doesn't generate enough tackles to provide a solid floor. Fantasy managers should look for a pivot if possible, but hold onto him for a juicy Week 7 matchup against the Jets, as QB Zach Wilson has been sacked 18 times through five games.

Jeremy Chinn, S, Panthers

Chinn simply isn't getting it done this year. He has averaged 4.2 tackles per game while adding just one pass breakup, no interceptions and no fumble recoveries. It appears he's not lining up in the box as much as he did last year, and his tackle counts are suffering as a result. His talent is remarkable, so don't outright drop him. But it's hard to trust Chinn on a weekly basis.
