Vernon Hargreaves

Heading into his third season, Hargreaves is getting precariously close to put-up-or-shut-up time. A 2015 first-round pick, he's fallen woefully short on the playmaking end over his first pair of campaigns. The former UF standout has all of one interception to his name over his first 25 NFL contests, and his sophomore season was disappointingly curtailed by a Week 10 hamstring injury. From the glass-half-full perspective, Hargreaves has proven to be an adept tackler while compiling 118 career stops, but it's worth noting a certain number of those have come due to the high success rate quarterbacks have enjoyed when targeting him. Another robust tackle total - by cornerback standards - could once again be a part of Hargreaves' IDP profile in 2018. Additionally, given he displayed some ball-hawking skills during his three college seasons by snagging 10 interceptions, Hargreaves could finally be due for a few picks if he can remain healthy for the entirety of the season.

Hargreaves was highly regarded coming out of last year's draft and early returns seemed to validate the accolades. The former Florida Gator progressively improved throughout training camp and preseason, eventually unseating veteran Alterraun Verner for the starting cornerback job. However, Hargreaves experienced some ups and downs once the live bullets started flying and finished with just two turnovers (one interception, one forced fumble), along with 76 tackles (68 solo) and nine passes defensed. Head coach Dirk Koetter has already made clear that he expects the second-year corner to be much more aggressive in 2017, setting the stage for what could be a breakout IDP campaign for the 2016 first-round pick.

The No. 11 overall pick in the 2016 draft, Hargreaves has been impressing since first stepping on the field for the Bucs in the offseason. The UF product has already vaulted into the slot corner spot on the nickel defense, with Bucs coaches confident in his ability to eventually play the inside and outside with equal proficiency. Hargreaves figures to receive significant time against three-receiver sets at a minimum and could conceivably work his way into the starting lineup at some point in the 2016 campaign. For the time being, his IDP value figures to be somewhat capped by not being a part of the standard defense, but his outlook could notably improve if he moves up the depth chart.
