Closer Watch

Toronto Blue Jays – When the Blue Jays upgraded both lineup and rotation at the trade deadline, some wondered if they had neglected to sufficiently address the team's biggest weakness. Though the Jays did add Mark Lowe and LaTroy Hawkins, Toronto still lacks the big name at the back of the bullpen to lock things down. Rookie Roberto Osuna continues to do an excellent job as a 20-year-old closer, but Toronto has at times struggled to get it to the ninth. The most significant upgrade to the bullpen arguably came from in-house, when Aaron Sanchez was removed from the rotation and re-installed in an eighth inning role. Servicable as a starter, Sanchez has been electric as a set-up man. Seemingly having shored up the bullpen with a series of underwhleming upgrades, Osuna could receive more opportunities the rest of the way than any other 50-game stretch this season.

Recommended Pickup

Luis Severino, SP, NYY – Following his successful Major League debut, the Yankees' top prospect became a popular add. Savvy owners scooped him up, and his ownership approached 50 percent. His five clean innings were enough to convince even the most skeptical of what New York seemed to have realized. The upside of the 21-year-old is simply too good to leave for next year what a team in pursuit of a championship can benefit from this year. Surpisingly, though, he remains available in as many leagues as he has been claimed. If Severino is still sitting out there on the wire in your league, he is worth the flyer.

Other Recent Recommendations:Kyle Parker, Michael Taylor, Yangervis Solarte, Matt Shoemaker, Jesus Montero and Patrick Corbin
