ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old Cunningham, who is hitting just .130/.192/.174 through nine games with Triple-A Indianapolis this season, will serve as organizational outfield depth with his new club. He's seen a trio of brief major-league stints since 2013, though he's struggled to a combined .207/.256/.264 slash line across 67 big-league games.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
2014
Drafted in the second round by the Braves in 2010, Cunningham was given his biggest bite at the apple in 2015, but failed to impress, slashing just .221/.280/.267 in 39 games with the big club. He was able to tally some 20-stolen base seasons in the minors while showing decent plate discipline, but has yet to show a consistent tool that could be considered above average, as he notched just a .713 OPS in six seasons in the Braves' system. Cunningham was claimed off waivers by the Angels in October, and could potentially compete to see time as part of a platoon in the outfield, as Shane Victorino, David Murphy, and Matt Joyce all elected free agency. It is more likely, however, that he begins the season at Triple-A Salt Lake as depth looking to establish himself as a useful piece in the Halos' system.
The switch-hitting Cunningham endured more growing pains during the first half of the season at Triple-A Gwinnett, posting a .690 OPS through the first 80 games, but he really turned it on down the stretch, with an .883 OPS and 18:23 BB:K in 40 games after the All-Star break. It wasn't enough to earn a September callup, but Cunningham finished with decent numbers from both sides of the plate, slashing .282/.337/.450 from the right side and .290/.352/.386 from the left, while again playing outstanding defense in center field (.991 fielding percentage). Despite his walk rate dipping by close to two percent (from 8.4% to 6.6%), he still managed to get on base at a good clip (.347), something he's done in all five of his minor league seasons. The decision to trade Kyle Wren in the offseason indicates that the Braves still believe Cunningham, a second-round pick in 2010, can be a serviceable major leaguer, with perhaps even in a reserve role in 2015. However, the 25-year-old's modest power and speed make him of little interest in fantasy this season and likely beyond.
In his first season at Triple-A Gwinnett, Cunningham compiled a rather underwhelming .265/.342/.333 batting line, with two home runs and 20 steals in 27 attempts. He had a couple of very brief stints with the big club in August, but was left off the Braves' expanded September roster. While devoid of any real power (.361 career slugging percentage in the minors), Cunningham has proven to be a strong defensive center fielder, recording a .992 fielding percentage with Gwinnett in 2013, and he has above-average on-base skills. That said, the 25-year-old figures to open the year with Gwinnett, and the Braves' crowded outfield situation makes significant playing time with the big club unlikely in 2014.
